It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shaun Daryl Sparico, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, retired police officer and former United States Marine, who passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 62. A true hero in every sense, Shaun served his country and community with unwavering commitment and courage.

Born on October 27, 1962 in McKeesport Pennsylvania, Shaun was a proud Marine who served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps. He took pride in posting his Semper Fi flags and had a stockpile of Marine hats that he would frequently display.

His time in the military shaped him into the resilient, disciplined, and compassionate individual that so many came to admire. After honorably completing his service, Shaun continued his passion for protecting others by joining the McKeesport Police, where he served for 20 years.

Throughout his tenure he held roles from Patrolmen to Captain of Detectives before hanging up his badge.

During his career, he earned respect from colleagues and citizens alike, known for his integrity, bravery, and dedication to justice.

After retiring from law enforcement, Shaun continued to make an impact by obtaining his Masters Degree from Point Park University. He then became a professor teaching criminal justice courses at multiple CCAC community college campuses, where he taught for 17 years.

In addition to his military and police service, he was an avid music enthusiast, frequent concert goer, and enjoyed watching his favorite Pittsburgh sports teams. When Shaun wasn't rocking out to metal music, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family meant everything to him.

Shaun is survived by his parents, Janet (Slinchak) and Joe; sister, Joelle Sparico; wife, Carolyn of 35 years; children, Amanda (John) Reichert and Ian; grandchildren, Olivia & JR; and many other family members, friends, and colleagues who were fortunate enough to know him.
