Elizabeth “Betty” G. Vavrek, age 94, of McKeesport, PA, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025. She was born in McKeesport, PA on October 18, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Luca Vavrek. Betty attended Holy Trinity Elementary School and was a graduate of McKeesport Area High School Class of 1948. After graduating, Betty was hired by Landsman News, later known as Triangle News where she continued to work until she retired. Betty enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and visiting with her brother in California. She belonged to St. Martin de Porres Seniors.

Betty loved her family and enjoyed spending holidays with them. She was known as the first to come and first to leave by announcing “this little girl needs to go home”. Aunt Betty, you are finally home.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded by her siblings, Joseph (the late Jeanie) Vavrek; John (the late Thelma) Vavrek; Louis Vavrek; Mary (the late Steve) Jakubek; and Helen (the late Ed) Ragan.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Elizabeth’s memory on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, 312 32nd Street, McKeesport, PA 15132. A burial will follow.
