Carole M. Lombardo died peacefully at home on July 14, 2025. She was born in McKeesport, PA, on September 19, 1947, and is the daughter of the late Rose M. McGowan Minnick and the step-daughter of the late Joseph E. Minnick. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Armand A. Lombardo.
She is survived by her sisters, Joan M. Gibson; and Pamela S. (Sally Schrauder) Gibson; step-sister, Carol Mazzotti; step-son, Armand A. (Janet) Lombardo, Jr.; their children and grandchildren; cousin, Dave (Darlene) McGowan; Kaitlynn (James) Irmer; their daughter, Cali Irmer, who knew her as “Aunt Carole”; and many more loving cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carole is preceded in death by Brendan A. McGowan, who also knew her as “Aunt Carole.”
Carole held a bachelor's degree in English from Ohio University and a master's degree in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a dedicated English teacher and later librarian serving for many years at McKeesport Area High School. She was a member of the McKeesport College Club since 1987.
She was an avid reader and encouraged students, family and friends alike to embrace the joy of reading. She loved the outdoors, growing fresh vegetables, playing bridge and preparing delicious meals for family. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends and family.
