Edward Gordon Schaffer, age 94, of White Oak, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. He was born in McKeesport, PA on May 26, 1931 and was the son of the late Donald Gordon and Margaret Dandar Schaffer. He was the husband of the late Eleanore V. Mitro Schaffer, who died on June 22, 2016. Edward was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a former member of the White Oak Lions Club, Service Order of Serra Catholic, and Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey W. (Kim) Schaffer of Monroeville, PA; Scott M. (Jackie) Schaffer of McMurray, PA; Donna (Gary) Thomas of McLean, VA; grandchildren, Katie (Justin) Cartiff; Andrew Schaffer; Matthew Crossley; Abbey Schaffer; Jacqueline Schaffer; brothers, William (Cindy) Schaffer of Penn Twp.; Thomas (Virginia) Schaffer of Stoneboro, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward and Eleanor will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish, St. Bernadette Church, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville, PA 15146. A burial will follow. Arrangements are being cared for by Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177).
