David J. Balentine, age 75, of Perryopolis, died on January 11, 2026, at Quality Life Services in Apollo. Born March 29, 1950, in, he was the son of the late James H. and Florence (Lancaster) Balentine and husband of Eleanor (Oatman) Balentine for 43 years.
David's passion for the outdoors shone brightly throughout his life. He found joy in deer hunting on his neighbors' lands, always grateful for their friendship and generosity. This connection to the earth extended beyond the hunt; David took great pleasure in splitting wood for his wood burner, ensuring that his home was filled with warmth and comfort. His hands were always ready to lend a helping hand, whether to family or friends, embodying the spirit of community and support that defined his character.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by children, Sherri (Keith Henry) Balentine, David Jr. (Kim) Balentine, Shawn Balentine, Kevin Balentine, and Christopher Balentine; grandchildren, Paige, Damien, Brandon, Mariyah, Saphira, and Peyton; siblings, Ethel Toth and Robert Balentine; daughter-in-law, Bree Fouse; brothers-in-law, Larry (Diane Headings) Oatman and Charles Oatman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
David was also preceded in death by half brothers, Mark Balentine and Floyde Balentine.
