Barbara Jean Smith, age 88, of McKeesport, PA, died on Thursday, March 12, 2026. She was born in McKeesport, PA, on October 14, 1937, was the daughter of the late Stephen and Frances Morris Kossuth. She was a graduate of St. Peters Catholic High School and was a member of the former St. Pius V Church, now Mary, Mother of God Parish.

Barbara is survived by her sons, George Stephen (Kathryn) Smith of New Stanton, PA; Rodger Alan Smith of McKeesport, PA; and Brian Glenn (Corinda) Smith of Liberty Borough, PA; grandchildren, Natalie (Joseph) Formica; Casey (Andrew) Rogowski; Brianna (Michael) Sokolowski; Brandon Smith; Adam Smith; Spencer Smith; and Brenda Smith; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lorraine (James) Evans of Versailles Borough, PA; and Maryann (William) Richard of Virginia Beach, VA.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, George B. Smith; son, Mark Robert Smith; and brother, Stephen Kossuth.

Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Barbara’s memory on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. An entombment will follow.
