Emma Wassil, age 96, of Port Vue, died at home on March 22, 2026. Born November 4, 1929, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Stanczyk) Raisner and the wife of the late Andrew Wassil.
Emma was a cherished member and Christian Mother of the former St. Martin de Porres Parish and a current member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church community were a testament to her deep spirituality and sense of belonging. In addition to her faith, Emma found joy in simple pleasures. She had a passion for playing bingo, delighting not only in the game but also in the camaraderie of her fellow players. She often spent her time at the community center in Whitehall and Olympia in McKeesport, where she forged friendships and created lasting memories.
She is survived by children, Edward (Suzann) Wassil, Richard (Elizabeth) Wassil, Sue Ann (Mark) Zacchero, and Mark (Sherri) Wassil; grandchildren, Christopher Petro, Maria Dworek, Heather Zacchero, Nathan Wassil, and Justice Wassil; five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Sabo, Helen Wunderlich, Clara Barchanowicz, and Marie Kantorczyk; brothers, Lawrence Raisner and Walter Reisner.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene Church. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.
