Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 13, 2026

Dorothy Jean Rushnock, age 103, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at Point Pleasant of North Versailles. Born on November 3, 1922, in Ligonier, PA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles Emery and Mabel (Miller) Smith and the beloved wife of the late Paul Thomas Rushnock.

Jean was truly a shining light in the lives of those around her. She dedicated her years to nurturing her home and family, and in her earlier days, she contributed her talents at Kennametal in Latrobe. Growing up on her family's farm in Lycippus, PA, she learned the value of hard work and the joys of simpler times.

A faithful member of Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church in McKeesport, Jean was actively involved in the Women's Society, earning a reputation as a proud "Pierogi Pincher." Her passions included crafting, playing piano for her church community, also an avid seamstress. She loved tending to her beautiful garden.

Jean is survived by her children, Neal (Karen) Rushnock and Paula (Charles) Hutsko; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Sellers Smith.

Special thanks to Gallagher Home Care, Bridges Hospice and the staff at Point Pleasant for their great care they gave our mother.
