Bob “Iggy” Ignat
Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 26, 2026

Iggy worked for General Motors for more than 35 years and was a proud, lifelong supporter of the United Auto Workers. He served his country as a sharpshooter in the United States Army and continued his service in the Army National Guard throughout the 1960s. He was a member of Holy Name/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheyenne (McKelvey); his parents, John and Betty (Chakey); and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his brothers Ron and John, daughters, Diane (Steve) Potucek of Virginia and Debby (Tarry) Butner of Florida; eight grandchildren; one great‑grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Iggy was a simple, steady soul who found joy in the little things—listening to oldies, watching a Steeler game, enjoying an afternoon beer at Harvey’s, and treating himself to a Snickers. In his final days, he received exceptional care marked by dignity, compassion, and respect from the medical staff at the Veterans Association Medical Center and the HJ Heinz Hospice Center team in Pittsburgh.
In memory of Iggy, the family requests that donations be made to the Veterans Association of America or The Fisher House Foundation. A private family ceremony will be held in celebration of his life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to I.M FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 203 4th St, Dravosburg, PA 15034. Online condolences may be offered at www.finneyfuneralhome.com
