Emerson M. Fazekas, age 57, of Versailles, died March 25, 2017.

Emerson M. Fazekas, age 57, of Versailles, died March 25, 2017. He was born in Versailles on January 24, 1960 and is the son of the late Alexander Fazekas and Beatrice Virginia Tedesco Fazekas. He worked as a carpenter by trade at the Eastwood Building Component in Greensburg and then in the maintenance department for McKeesport Area School District. He served in local politics in Versailles Boro for many years as a councilman and as Mayor for 12 years. His public service also included serving as the President of Council for approximately 4 years, Vice President of the Versailles Redevelopment Committee, Vice President of the Twin Rivers Recreational Advisory Council, chairperson of entertainment for the Centennial Committee, and Associate of the Allegheny County Mayor’s Association.

He is survived by his son, Emerson (Jeanne) Fazekas, II of Greensburg; daughter, Heather Fazekas of Pittsburgh; brother, Alex “Beaver” Fazekas of Versailles; and grandsons, Emerson, III and Jackson. He was preceded in death by sister, Melinda Whittington.

Friends will be received at Striffler’s of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177), on Tuesday March 28th from 2 pm until 8 pm. Services will be held on Wednesday March 29th at 10 am in the funeral home chapel with President Rick Casler officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
