Frank D. Kolodziej, age 86 of Winchester, VA, formerly of Christy Park, died on April 7, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center with family at his side.

Born November 25, 1930 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Frank and Nellie (Hobaj) Kolodziej. Frank honorably served our country as a sergeant in the Air Force. He was a fine craftsman carpenter and worked at Zell Brothers for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Polish Church, now Corpus Christi Church, and also a member of the 11th Ward Club, Polish National Association, Duquesne Club and American Legion. Frank loved to garden and watch his birds come daily to eat. He was a long time Steeler and Pirate fan. He will sincerely be missed by his family and friends. Frank is survived by his sister, Genevieve Oreski of East McKeesport; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Frank is preceded in death by his loving companion of 51 years, Gloria Hixon; brothers, Walter and Melvin Kolodziej; sisters, Elizabeth Macerelli and Dorothy Pitrowski. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Christy Park. Father Vincent Velas will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Polish Cemetery.
