Frank Albert Kopas, age 86, of Harrison City, formerly of Brockway, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was born July 27, 1930 in Uniontown, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Terify) Kopas. He was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Harrison City, The Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the VFW. He was an Army veteran and went on to work as a soil scientist for the U.S. Government for over 25 years before retiring. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Susan Lippincott; sister Anna; and brothers Vince, Andrew and John. He is survived by his wife of over 58 years Elizabeth “Betty” (Churey) Kopas; children Frank Andrew Kopas of Harrison City and Beth Ann (Kirk) Patterson of Irwin; son-in-law Rich Lippincott of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren Olivia Lippincott, Ryan Patterson, Niki Patterson, Alex Lippincott and Rachel Patterson; sister Catherine Sampey of Fairchance; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Everyone is invited at 10 a.m. Saturday to the mausoleum chapel at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in North Versailles for a committal service.
