Mary “Merka” Lehman Brentzel, 87, of North Huntingdon, died at home Tuesday February 23, 2016. She was born October 31, 1928 in McKeesport a daughter of the late George and Ann (Buber) Lehman and was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years, Conrad “Coonie” Brentzel and a son Jay C. Brentzel. She was a waitress at the former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and also was a former employee of SpeeD Mart in North Irwin.

She was a member of St. Stephen’s Byzantine Church, North Huntingdon and also attended mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irwin. Mary was an avid reader and loved playing cards and crocheting. She also had her own kiln and enjoyed ceramics. Mary is survived by her sons, Duane “Mick” Brentzel and his wife Sharon of Greensburg and Lou K. Brentzel and his wife Lin of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeremy) Metzger, Aaron (Gina) Brentzel, and Ashley (Steve) Steiner; five great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; a sister Ann “Enka” Prodan; nieces, Sandy and Cindy Prodan; and a nephew DeVere Lindh. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
