Ronald Peter Suncine, age 79 of North Huntingdon, formerly of McKeesport, died August 28, 2017 at Southwestern Veterans Center.  Born May 21, 1938 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Peter Suncine and Margaret (Bernard) Serdy.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Roberta (Wilson) Suncine.  Ronald was a career Marine achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, who fought in Vietnam and then went on to become a Marine Recruiter.  As a result of his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal,  Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.  He was especially proud  of his trip to Washington DC to receive the Presidential Unit Citation.  After faithfully serving his country, he took pride in his artistic abilities.  He put together huge, beautiful train platforms and stained glass displays.  He excelled at gardening and decorative landscaping, loved to hunt, shoot and was a member of the Monroeville-Pitcairn Gun Club.  As an adult, he also felt a spiritual void and turned to Christ by Baptism at Calvary Baptist Church in Altoona.  In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by daughters, Vanessa (Robin Maxwell) Suncine and Tanis Lynn (Beth Ann Deitzer) Suncine.  He is also survived by sister,  Shirley Haidle; brothers, David (Margaret) Suncine and Rudolph (JoAnn) Pipich; nieces and nephews, Bonnie (Eva) Walston, Curtis (Michelle) Walston, Joanie Haidle, Glenda (Jason) Nimal, Brian (Lisa) Suncine, Brad Suncine, Kim (Dave) Platt, and Rudolph (Sharon) Pipich III.  He was preceded in death by son, Ronald Peter Suncine, Jr.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at NOON in the funeral home chapel.  Interment and military honors will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  Condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com
