Karl R. Ziegmond, 87, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at home.

Retired, after 56 years of service, as a tool and die maker for Fisher Body in West Mifflin, he was a member of the Blaine Hill Fire Department and U.A.W. Retiree Group and an Air Force veteran of World War II. Born December 2, 1928 in McIntyre, Indiana County, he was a son of the late Fred Ziegmond, Sr. and Mary (Rostis) Ziegmond. Karl is survived by his wife of 34 years, Peggy L. (Sumney) Ziegmond; 5 children, Karla (William) Gee of Roanoke, VA, William F. Ziegmond of Greenock, Robert K. (Darlene) Ziegmond of Leechburg, Dayna (Nick) Petrovich of Elizabeth Township and Jason (Melinda) Domer of Gibsonia; 6 grandchildren, Karl Ziegmond, Jessica Gee, Nicholas (Harley) Czapor, Nathan Czapor, Jacob Domer and Sophia Domer; great grandchild, Hunter Czapor; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes (Hoover) Ziegmond; brother, Fred Ziegmond, Jr.; infant sister, Rosemary Ziegmond and sisters, Betty Baroni and Eleanor Konkol. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth, PA 15037 (412/384-4344) on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2 - 8 PM. A Blessing will take place on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating.
