Roy L. Lawson, age 92, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully July 19, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. Born August 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Graham W. and Katherine (Olbrick) Lawson.

Roy L. Lawson, age 92, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully July 19, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. Born August 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Graham W. and Katherine (Olbrick) Lawson.
Roy retired from U.S. Steel, where he was a crane operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during WWII. He was a very loving father, and grandfather. Roy always attended his grandchildren's events. He loved to tease and looked forward to playing Santa every year. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and instilled safety and skills to all who met him. Roy will be remembered for all of his patience and unconditional love.
Roy is survived by his children, Roy R. (MaryAnn) Lawson of McKeesport with whom he resided, Karen Lawson of Liberty Boro and Debra Bock of Versailles; grandchildren, Roy (Kristy) Lawson, Jake (Kayla) Lawson, Michael (Stacey) Lawson, Gemma (Robby) VanMeter, Kaylee Lawson, Anthony (Megan) Piplica, Holly (Nate) Phar, Taylor, Jillian (Micah) Reel, and Mark Stanich; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannie (Vince) Kastronis; also many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Carole (Findura) Lawson Hampton; siblings, Reggie, Carl, Walt, Marvin, Katherine Adams and Ruth Swanson.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 9:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be, 12 p.m., at St. Patrick Church. Inurnment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
