David Given Sr., 73, of North Versailles Twp. died May 28, 2021. Born May 27, 1948. Son of Alexander and Gertrude Given. Lived in North Versailles all his life. Graduated from high school in Wilmerding. Started working at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. He was drafted into the Army. He spent 15 months in Vietnam. He earned 2 Bronze Stars. He returned to his job and worked there for a total of 23 years, before they shut down.

He joined the VFW in 1969. He became very active in the organization. He held several offices before becoming the first Vietnam Veteran to become Post Commander. He was a life member of the VFW. He was the Adjutant and Bar Manager. He also was a Life Member of American Legion Post 701 in White Oak. He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose #86. He met his wife, Nancy in 1970. They married in September of 1970.

David was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, and had surgery in 2018. Surviving are his wife, Nancy, son, David Jr. (Deanna, her children, Gabi, Erik, Danyelle and Alex). Also, son, Bryon (Amy, her sons, Michael (Maddie) and Matthew). Also survived by sister, Donna, brother, Ronald (Alice), and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were in charge of Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Male Breast Cancer Awareness, or the American Cancer Society.
