Mary I. Herr, age 93, lived at Riverside Nursing Center, formerly from White Oak, beloved mother and grandmother, died Monday, August 15, 2016. She was born in Lincoln Place on May 4, 1923 and is the daughter of the late Carlos and Laura (Perkins) Shannon. She was employed at Teledyne Firth Sterling for 23 years until she retired; She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McKeesport. Mary was a bridge player, accomplished baker and loved crocheting.
She is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Thomas) Brletic of McKeesport and Sheryl Calabro of McKeesport; son, Rodney J. (Pat) Herr of Derry; grandchildren, Layne (Richelle) Herr, Jodi Feddersen, Heather (Erik) Klug, Glenn E. Herr III, Desiree Herr, Shannon (Josh) Alfer, Jessica Calabro, Karlena Calabro, and Robert McCollam; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Glenn E. Herr, Jr.; and siblings, Lucille Loy, Helen Fish, George Shannon, Ruth Weihrauch, and James Shannon.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor) 412-678-6177, where service will be held Thursday, August 18th at 10:00 am with Pastor Charles Owston officiating.
