Andrew "Andy" Nicholas Iski, age 94, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 after a short illness. He was born March 25, 1922 to the late Andrew B. and Irene Iski. With the outbreak of World War II, he volunteered for service and served honorably in the United States Army in Europe. He fought in the Battle of Bulge. For his service he received three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He married the late Valentina (Teen) Smerkar on May, 8, 1943.

He is survived by his children Andrea and her husband Fred Diehl of Dunnellon, Florida, David and his wife Carol of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Pattie Phillips of Greensburg; Grandchildren Sandy Day, Shelli Spallone, Erin V. Iski, Allison N. Dux, Andrew N. Iski and David “Nick” Iski; and Great-grandchildren Jonathan Day, and Jordan Day. Following the death of Valentina, Andy married Lorraine Zurick joining him with her loving daughter Marcy, husband Jerry Elam and their children Lori Ann, Ryan and Brent. Friends and family will be received on Saturday from 9 a.m. till time of service at 11 a.m. at the William Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, with Pastor Robert Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Westmoreland County Memorial Park in Hempfield Township.
