William Snyder Funeral Home

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | July 19, 2022

Dolores M. Brown, known as Dolly by those closest to her, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 24, 2022 at the age of 89. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. Dolly was born in Braddock on September 22, 1932 to parents Tekla and John Kogut. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in Braddock at the impressive age of 16. To say that Dolly was a busy person is putting it mildly. She volunteered her time organizing fund raising events for schools, as well as helping out with church fairs and Christian Mothers. Dolly also was a committee person for her district, campaigning for local and state representatives. She was one person not to let the grass grow under her feet. Dolly’s biggest and proudest accomplishment was serving on the school board for East Allegheny School District from December 1995 through December 2015. She enjoyed serving her community and always acted in the best interest of the students. Dolly leaves behind many people who loved her dearly.

She is survived by brother John Kogut; daughter Beth (Jack) Savulak; sons John (Helene) and Kevin Brown; six grandchildren, Justin and Zachary (Kaylee) Savulak, John (Heather) Brown, Kevin Brown II, Delcie (Ben) Schweitzer, and Josh (Melanie) Brown; four great-grandchildren Riley, Veyda, Cody, and Maverick; and many nieces and nephews.

Dolly was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, John I. Brown, and daughters Barbra Ann and Christine Brown.

Dolly touched the lives of many people, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
