George Michael Velardo, Sr., age 71, of McKeesport, died on Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was born in McKeesport on November 22, 1951 and is the son of the late George Henry and Barbara Kittle Velardo. He was employed as a mechanic at various companies including Meineke Muffler and Walmart. In addition to his work as a mechanic, he also was employed at the former TransCare and was a volunteer firefighter for North Versailles Township. George was a very positive, caring person and would do anything for anybody. He loved Christmas and dressing up as Santa Claus for all his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild, as well as for the children at Forbes Vocational Daycare. George was a member of All Souls’ Episcopal Church in North Versailles and was a former member of the choir.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Evelyn Jayne Scott Velardo; children, George Michael “Mike” (Maria) Velardo, Jr. of Huntingdon, TN; Matthew (Sara) Holmes of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Madelaine Holmes, Katrina Velardo, Garrett Holmes; great-grandchild, Skylar; siblings, Roberta Hutchinson of White Oak; Gus (Dawn) Rehnstrom of Savannah, Georgia; Sue (Vern) Zeno of Farmington, MI; Gloria (the late Arnold) Traud of West Mifflin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his grandchild, Brandon Velardo, and stepson, Keith Macri.
