Vera Jean "Jeanne" Johnson, age 95, of Sewickley, and formerly of White Oak, where she resided for 53 years, died December 24, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born January 22, 1928, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Myers) Barnes and was the wife of Albert Johnson, Sr. Vera first met her husband at a dance at the Palisades. Their relationship flourished and turned into 73 years of marriage. Their bond was a testament to the power of love, companionship, and commitment. Her love and devotion to family will be in our hearts forever.

Prior to being a full-time homemaker, Vera worked as a time keeper for the Westinghouse Airbrake Company. As a member of the Eastern Star, Vera exemplified the values of fellowship, charity, and faith. Vera had a passion for travel and explored various corners of the world with her beloved husband. Strolling through the quaint streets of Norway, embracing the breathtaking beauty of Switzerland, and witnessing Buckingham Palace in England were some of her most cherished experiences.

Beyond her love for exploring the world, Vera's talents extended to the kitchen. She delighted family and friends with her dishes. Her signature Chicken a la King and Pork and Sauerkraut were loved by all. She was always tweaking her recipes until they were perfect.

In addition to her husband, Vera is survived by her sons, Albert Johnson, Jr. and Eric (Colette) Johnson; grandchildren, Grant Johnson, Noah Johnson, Emily (Tyler) Hutto, Carrie Johnson, Allison Johnson, Ryan Burke, and Matthew, Burke; a great-grandson, Everett Hutto; nieces and nephews, Jeannie, Cheryl Ann, Loretta, Amy, Susan (deceased), Art, Mike, Paul, Kelly, Chrissy, Leonard, and Alex. She is also survived by many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Barnes, and a brother-in-law, Alex Johnson.

Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The entombment will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
