John L. Cindric, Jr., 80, of Liberty Borough died February 15, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 13, 1943, in McKeesport, son of the late John L. and Ann (Kochis) Cindric, Sr., and husband of Marie (Slick) Cindric.
John led a life defined by hard work and honorable service. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a great supporter of several veteran service organizations. He worked for many years at Edgar Thompson Steel Works, proudly earning retirement. Affectionately known as "Papa John", being a grand & great-grandfather was one of the greatest joys in his life. John was a simple man; he enjoyed going out to eat with his wife, spending time with his family, and going to Hoot's to hang out with his good friend, Hoot.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his seven children, Theresa (Michael) Lancaster of Irwin, Debra (Dave) Hurley of North Versailles, Tracie (William) Bruno of Manor, Jeffrey Mendenhall of Niles, OH, James (Kathleen) Mendenhall of Plum, Anna Mendenhall of Jeanette, Michelle (Fred Calub) Mendenhall of North Huntingdon; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren with another great on the way in May; sister, Gloria (Bill) Pierce; brothers, Eugene, Dennis, and Duane Cindric; and nephews, Eric, Michael and Joshua.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Cindric and nephew, Jason Cindric.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Monday at 10 a.m. Pastor Tim Bunney will officiate.
