Patricia McFadden McSheehy, affectionately known as Patsy, passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 86 from complications following a stroke.
Born on April 1, 1938, in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Patsy was the second of six children born to Kathleen and Cornelius McFadden. Raised in Pelham, New York, alongside her three sisters and two brothers, she developed a deep love for family, faith, and community. She graduated from Marywood Seminary in Scranton, Pennsylvania, before embarking on a career as a buyer for Bloomingdale’s in New York City.
In July 1962, Patsy married the love of her life, Melvin B. McSheehy, and together they built a beautiful life in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, raising their four children. She remained in McKeesport until Melvin’s passing in 1990, after which she moved to Sarasota, Florida. In 2019, she relocated to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, to be closer to family.
Patsy was a woman of strong convictions and an active member of every community she called home. She served as the chairperson for her district’s Republican Party, was a dedicated member of her local Garden Club, and remained deeply involved in Bible study groups throughout her life. She found joy in knitting, watching professional tennis, and playing Mexican train and Rummikub with friends and family.
She is survived by her four beloved children: Kathleen Kowalski and husband, Don; Melvin B. McSheehy, Jr. and wife, Joell; Brendan McSheehy and wife, Missy; and Brian E McSheehy and wife, Denise. And is also survived by brothers Kim McFadden and his wife Maureen and Peter McFadden and his wife Patty. Patsy was a cherished grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren.
Patsy’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
