Mary Stipanovic, beloved sister and aunt, died January 6, 2017 at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg, PA at the age of 95. She was formerly from McKeesport and Liberty Borough. Mary graduated from McKeesport High School and from Grace Martin Business School. She retired from the McKeesport Hospital Human Resources Department and was the secretary to the head of McKeesport Hospital nursing.

Mary was employed by Apter Brothers in McKeesport in her younger years. She was a member of Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in McKeesport, where she prepared the Church Bulletin for many years. Mary belonged to the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Branch 77, and American Association of Retired Persons.

Born as an American citizen in Ploske, Czechoslovakia on February 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Matta Stipanovic. Mary resided on Hazel Street in McKeesport for most of her life with her late sister, Anne. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Stipanovic of Redstone Highlands in North Huntingdon, PA with whom she resided before entering Redstone; one niece, Judy (Stipanovic) Kunes of North Huntingdon; and four nephews, Tim Stipanovic of Daytona Beach, FL, Paul Stipanovic of Churchill, PA, Ray Stipanovic of Palm Coast, FL, and Joe Stipanovic of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and 25 grand-nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. Fr. Donald Voss will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, North Versailles. Special thanks to the nurses and aides who cared for Mary over the years.
