Nellie Ann “Taffy” Shenefelt, 71, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday May 24, 2016 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital. Her three home caregivers, Kerri, Jess, and Tiny and her friend Andria Crisp as well as husband and daughter comforted her all night. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of almost fifty years, William Blair Shenefelt II, a daughter Cheryl Shenefelt Bush and son-in-law, Brandon Bush currently residing in Somerset.

Born in New Kensington, Taffy was a 1962 graduate of Plum high school and the Martin Anthony Beauty academy in 1964. She worked as a beautician in Penn Hills and New Kensington, PA until she and William were married 1966 and they started a family with Cheryl. She loved animals, flowers, and especially children as well as 1950s music. When in high school she was a majorette and president of the local Pat Boone fan club. Taffy was preceded by her parents, Adolph and Nellie Gudinas Daugerdas, her brother Adolph John and her nephew Bryan Sell. Also about 5 years ago she lost her beloved companion parrot Pedro who allowed us to live with her for 28 years.

Her sister Geri and husband Anthony Banko reside in Gettysburg, her sister Rosemary Daugerdas Sell in New Kensington, and her half-sister, Barbara Anuszek Tenney and husband Jim in Sorrento, Florida. She also leaves nieces Kristina Banko and Jennifer Banko Schrumpf and husband Jon with children Ashley and Kevin all living in Maryland.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
