Alfieri Funeral Home

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | July 11, 2022

Mike Matievich, 92, of White Oak, was born at home in Wilmerding on October 5, 1929, and passed away on June 30, 2022. He was the son of Mila and Sam Matievich and brother to the late Robert (Rip) Matievich.

Mike is survived by his dear wife of 16 years, Marjorie Provan-Matievich and 3 step-children, Cynthia Sears, Margaret Josefczyk (Gary), and Diane Provan. Mike was a 1954 graduate of Geneva College and an accountant for Westinghouse Electric of East Pittsburgh for 34 years. Prior to his career, he served in the US Army as a Military Policeman.

Mike had many interests: an avid reader, a sportsman, hunter, dancer, and a conservative activist. He generously contributed to Christian ministries and many charitable organizations in the community and nationwide. He was a member and former Treasurer of the McKeesport Sportsmen's Association for many years and was a licensed pistol instructor in the Pittsburgh area.

Mike had a strong Christian faith, was a dedicated patriot, and a cherished member of the Serbian community. Mike was known as "Uncle Mike" to the Provan grandchildren and many other families.

A confirmed bachelor until age 76, he surprised everyone and married Marjorie. Mike was a loving, caring, and doting husband, as well as an attentive, devoted caregiver to his wife. Mike was a steadfast and tireless worker who willingly served in support of his values and conservative beliefs.

A loyal friend to so many, Mike will be greatly loved and missed until we see him again in God's Glory. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Samaritan's Purse. Arrangements in the care of Alfieri Funeral Home, Wilmerding.
