Earl D. Ferrington

Earl D. Ferrington, age 87 of Highland Grove, died November 3, 2017 at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 18, 1930 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Francis and Merle (Fleehr) Ferrington, and loving husband of the late Donna Louise (Gibson) Ferrington. Earl honorably served in the US Army in France during the Korean War.

Following his military service, he worked for Continental Can as a sign painter, along with various other jobs with the business. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service with the company. Earl was a lifetime member of the Highland Grove United Methodist Church and was also a former Mason. In his free time, he loved to travel with his family on spur-of-the-moment road trips, making many memories that his family will cherish.

Earl was also a friendly and familiar face in the Highland Grove neighborhood. He loved to tend to his yard and was always there to lend a helping hand to others whether it be mowing their lawn or shoveling snow. Earl’s approachable and kind nature will be missed by his family and many friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his children, Keith (Bonnie) Ferrington of Liberty Borough, Charles (Patricia) Ferrington of San Antonio, TX, and Barbara (the late William) Lockhart of Highland Grove; grandchildren, Keith Jr., Kevin, and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jason, Michael, Ryan, Austin, Evan, Tyler, and Emma; and nephews, Robert and Richard Volk. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Devon Ferrington; and brother, William H. Ferrington.

Helmut Herbert Weber, age 64 of North Huntingdon, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 22, 2017. Born August 2, 1953 in Leipzig, Germany, he was the son of Rolf H. and Margot E. (Geira) Weber, and loving husband of Mary Kay (Smith) Weber for over 19 years. Helmut served in the West German Navy as a Morse Code operator for two years. Following his service, he decided to move to the Pittsburgh area in 1975. He went on to dedicate over 35 years to GE Healthcare as an MRI Field Service Engineer. Helmut was a unique and creative man who was loved by many and will be missed by many. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his children, Catherine Mary Weber of Avon Lake, OH and Christopher Herbert Weber of McMurray; also many in-laws, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Weber and brothers, Juergen and Stephan Weber. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Wilbert “Bill” C. Gobbel, age 87 of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of McKeesport, died September 21, 2017 at Kane Regional Center - McKeesport.  Born March 2, 1930 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Wilbert J. and Elizabeth (Purkiss) Gobbel and the husband of the late Carole (Lynch) Gobbel for 64 years.  Bill worked for U.S. Steel National Tube Works as a rigger for 37 years.  He belonged to McKeesport Turners and the 11th Ward Club and he loved to take his grandchildren fishing when they were younger, all 12 of them.  Bill is survived by sons, Timothy, Terri (Vanessa), and Todd (Deanne) Gobbel; grandchildren, Matthew, Eric, Jason, Patrick, Nathan, Lori Morgan, Josh, Rebekah, Aaron, Amber, and Zac; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Elayne Sparico; daughter-in-law, Diane Gobbel and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by son, Rev. Caroline Przywarty, age 94 of North Versailles, formerly of Liberty Borough, died August 31, 2017 at UPMC McKeesport. Born April 23, 1923 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Pasko) Piotrowski, and loving wife of the late Edward P. Przywarty. During the war, she worked at J&L Mill, however her greatest achievement was being a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandma. Caroline was truly everyone’s grandma! She spent her life enjoying the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She rode quads with her grandsons into her 90’s. She lived in Liberty Borough for 30 years before moving to Point Pleasant Retirement Community. Caroline found pleasure in the simple things in life, whether it be the sun shining on her face, or the beauty of growing her vegetable garden. She was quiet and unassuming and was an attentive listener.  She was simply the best! She is survived by her children, Pamela (Wayne) Kucich of White Oak, Karen (Don) Coughenour of Orangeburg, SC, and Cindy (Tom) Owoc of Elizabeth Twp.; grandchildren, Kristy (John) Scherf, Michael (Carolyn) Kucich, Branden (Heather) Kucich, Jessica (Dan) Holland, Lindsay (Matt) Brown, Donnie Coughenour, Clay Owoc, Zachary Owoc, and Kylie Owoc; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Parker, Emily, Abigail, Anthony, Karsen, Dixie, Mason, Reagan, Reese, Franklin, Ruby, Noah, Emma Grace, Sage, Riley, McKenzie, and Cash; siblings, Sophie (the late Sam) Bondi of Fox Chapel and Thomas (the late Dorothy) Piotrowski of McKeesport; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Edmund Przywarty; and siblings, Stanley Piotrowski, John Piotrowski, Victoria Ploszay, Eleanor Sharik, and Louis Piotrowski. Francis J. Casey, age 91, of McKeesport, died August 18, 2017, at Riverside Nursing Center. Born December 6, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Francis Casey and the husband of the late Joyce (Hrapchak) Casey. Francis was retired from US Steel National Tube Works. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during WWII. He was a member of the former St. Pius V Church. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Swartz; grandchildren, Charles and Desiree Swartz; great grandchildren, Cherri and Brandi Halfhill; great great grandchild, Lyric. In addition to his parents and wife, Francis was also preceded in death by a great grandchild, Andrew Mcgee. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 11 a.m. until the time of blessing service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Fr. Edward J. Bolga, age 82 of North Huntingdon, died August 18, 2017 at Transitions Healthcare.  Born June 9, 1935 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Cservenyak) Bolga and the beloved husband of Sylvia (Cernava) Bolga for 33 years.  Ed was an Air Force Veteran, and while in the service, he was a jet engine mechanic.  After serving for over 4 years in the military, he was honorably discharged and took up the trade of carpentry.  He loved his trains, garden, and polka dancing.  In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by brother, James (Jean) Bolga; sister, Margie (Michael) Stefanko; brother-in-law, Tom Madden; nieces and a nephew, Jeannie Sonnenberg, Kathy (Michael) Osiecki and Michael (Missy) Madden; great nieces and great nephews, Samantha, Sierra , Malone, and Macklen.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Kay Fleming and a sister, Maryann Madden.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.  Condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com
