Ruth A. Paliscak, 82, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019. She was born March 1, 1937 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Stephen and Julia Kapisak. Ruth was a member of St. Agnes Parish and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Kapisak; sisters, Rose (Frank) Modrak and Mary (Frank) Opieloski. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, George Paliscak; sons, David Paliscak and his wife, Sally, Daniel Paliscak and Christopher Paliscak, and his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Julie Puhl and her husband, Michael; sister, Patricia Race and her husband Ted; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Karen Louise Boes, 63, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. She was born March 8, 1956 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Daley) Miller. Karen was a graduate of Richland High School and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and oil painting and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a fan of Ellen DeGeneres and had the opportunity to attend the show in December of 2011 with her daughter Christy. Karen was known for her generosity and gave to many charities. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis and Laura Daley; and sister, Judith Drosjack. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Richard Boes; sons, Mike Boes and his wife, Tracey, Nick Boesand his girlfriend Erica; daughter, Christy Mowerand her parnter Brenda; brother, Robert Miller and his wife, Denise; and grandchildren, Abigail, Bailey, Sandra, Tristan and Mason. There will be no visitation as per Karen's wishes. The family will hold a private memorial service on the ocean to celebrate Karen's life. Elizabeth "Libby" R. Capozzi, 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019. She was born February 7, 1930 in Herminie, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Irvin) Medley. Prior to her retirement in 1993, Elizabeth was the office manager for Hussman Corporation. After her retirement she ran her son's business, Capozzi Transport and was a member of St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon. Libby was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who was always there for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Capozzi; and her daughter, Karen Winter. She is survived by her son, Michael Capozzi and his fiancee, Terri Emory; granddaughters, Angela (C.J.) Hines, Georgeanna (Steve) McCloskey; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Canyon Hines, Kara (Donavin) Gray, Jonathan Capozzi, Anthony and Taylor McCloskey. Friends will be received at the James W. John S. Kovach, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019. He was born December 29, 1924 in McKeesport, son of the late Steven and Elizabeth (Fulop) Kovach. Prior to his retirement, John was a machinist for Genuine Tool Company and a WWII veteran having served in the US Army. John served in the Battery B 489th Coast Artillery Battalion and received WWII Victory Medal and two Bronze Star Medals while serving in Europe. He was a member of the 11th Ward Club, McKeesport, White Oak American Legion and enjoyed going to his hunting camp at Camp Glenn, Snowshoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence McCarthy Kovach; five sisters; and one brother. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Kovach and his wife, Joanne; John Kovach and his wife, Camille; sister, Grace Balogh; and grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Mediate, John (Courtney) Kovach, Michael (Felicia) Kovach, Kathryn "Katie" Kovach; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Kace. John "Jack" J. Simon, 83, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019. He was born May 11, 1936 in McKeesport, son of the late John and Susan (Sitte) Simon. Prior to his retirement, Jack was an analytical technician for Westinghouse, Waltz Mill, a member of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, the Free Hungarian Reformed Church of McKeesport and enjoyed antique cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Dinley) Simon. He is survived by his son, Jon Simon; daughters, Laura Dolgas and her husband, Thomas, Tracy Nardozzo and her husband, Gregory; sister, Sally (Eugene) Buchleitner; and four grandchildren, Emily and Elena Dolgas, and Leah and Rocco Nardozzo. Glenn H. Wilson, 87, of Irwin, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019. He was born July 2, 1931 in McKeesport, a son of the late Bill and Marie (Schweitzer) Lutes. Prior to his retirement, Glenn was a self-employed steel hauler and former owner of the Youngwood Hotel. He was a member of West Hempfield Presbyterian Church of Irwin and Mason Shidle Lodge, McKeesport. He enjoyed playing golf and bridge. John A. Swacus, 98, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was born April 19, 1921 in North Braddock. Son of the late and dear Mary and Andrew Swacus and father of the late Dr. J. Richard Swacus. John was a graduate of North Braddock (Scott) Schools and the University of Pittsburgh where he received his B.S. and M.E. degrees, and was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army. He was a member of the Pitt Basketball team 1940-1943 and a member of the Pitt University Letterman's Club. John was a recipient of Alumni of Distinction Award in 2005 by the Laurel Chapter Panther Club, University of Pittsburgh. Prior to his retirement, John was a teacher, coach, principal and assistant superintendent serving 37 years in the Franklin Regional School District. His 1951 basketball team won the WPIAL Championship. He was a founding member of St. Agnes Church of North Huntingdon, was active in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Oriss Swacus; son, Dr. J. Richard Swacus; and brother, Paul Swacus. John will be terribly missed by all who knew him. Brendan A. McGowan, 18, of North Huntingdon, tragically passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019. He was born July 12, 2000, in Pittsburgh, the son of David and Darlene (Daugherty) McGowan. Brendan was a 2019 graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School where he was an honor student and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Brendan planned to attend the University of Pittsburgh this fall. He was an all-around sportsman and especially enjoyed playing baseball for Greensburg Central Catholic, NCAA, PAL and various travel teams. He ran cross country and enjoyed music, gardening, deer hunting, fishing, riding bikes, snowboarding and spending time with his friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David E. Daugherty and paternal grandparents, Judge Bernard J. McGowan and Mary Aileen McGowan, a beloved friend, and his pup Bailey. He is survived by his sister Kaitlynn McGowan, aunts Kathy (David) Fertal, Mary Ann (Tim) Senecal, uncles Brian J. McGowan and Kevin J.
