Larry R. “Brownie” Brown, 89, of Dravosburg, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 14th, 2019. He was born in McKeesport Hospital on June 1st, 1930 to the late Martin and Mary Marie Kent Brown. Larry is survived by his son, Roy E. (Diana) Brown, of Palm Coast, FL, sister, Inez Schroeder, of Monongahela, grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony) Brown-Keane, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, great-grandchildren, Saoirse and Eamonn, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Jean Pulley, and brother, Jack Brown. Larry proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard, and served as a cook while stationed in post-WWII Germany in Berchtesgaden. He was a member of the American Legion, and the First Christian Church, in Dravosburg. Larry was formerly employed as an engineer for the Union Rail Road for 35 years, as well as U.S. Steel. He enjoyed gardening, and also loved to travel. Arrangements have been entrusted to I.M FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 203 4th St, Dravosburg, PA 15034. Clarence Edison “Bo” Stark Jr., 72, of McKeesport, formerly of Clairton and Glassport, passed away on Thursday, November 14th, 2019 at John J. Kane Regional Center in McKeesport. He was born in Vindex, Maryland, on April 10, 1947 to the late Bertha Tasker and Clarence E. Stark Sr. Clarence is survived by his daughter, Christine Stark, of McKeesport, sisters, Rose Bocianoski, of Port Vue, Mary (Larry) Hackney, of Ashland, KY, Patricia (Carl) Ratliff, of Ashland, Ohio, Charlotte (Terry) Hauser, of Hanover, MD, Anna (Ralph) Park, of Oakland, MD, brothers, Charles (Paula) Stark, of Frederick, MD, and Robert Stark, of MD, as well as many nieces and nephews. Clarence proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during Vietnam, where he was stationed in Panama. He was formerly employed by Westinghouse, as well as Sears in West Mifflin. Clarence enjoyed playing Billiards, and was a member of several Pool Leagues. The family would like to thank the staff at Kane for their caring and compassion. Joseph John Harchar, 96, a resident of Jefferson Hills for 67 years, formerly of Glassport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. He was born in Glassport on May 4th, 1923 to the late John and Mary Jackabcin Harchar. Joseph was the loving husband of Mary Ducko Harchar for 67 years. He is also survived by his sons, Joseph Harchar, of Woodbridge, VA, John (Judie) Harchar, of The Woodlands, TX, Kenneth Harchar of Jefferson Hills, and Robert Harchar of Jefferson Hills, nephew, Sidney (JoAnne) Cicchini , of Belle Vernon, and nieces, Phyllis Usko, of Forward Township, and Claire Marie (Tony) Cicchini Monias of Belle Vernon and Diane (Ed) Hickley of Port Vue. Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Albert, and sisters, Helen, Ann, Irene, Teresa, Bertha and infant siblings, Mamie, Mamie and John. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal for his service. Joseph was a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1949. He attained membership in Tau Beta P, National Honorary Engineering Society, Chi Epsilon National Honorary Civil Engineering Society. He was a member of the Phi Kappa fraternity while attending college and is a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association. After graduating college his working career began at the American Bridge Company, and continued through several engineering firms including Koppers Corporation and ending with the U.S. Corps of Engineers for 25 years. He was a project engineer on several local flood protection projects, and project manager on multipurpose dam projects from which he retired in 1983. After retirement he was selected to join President Ronald Reagan’s Goodwill Ambassador Team to go to China and consult with the Chinese on the construction of the recently completed dam on the Yangtze River. He had to refuse this appointment due to the simultaneous illness of his wife, who underwent successful cancer surgery during the same period. Joseph was a former member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Clairton, which later became part of St. Clare Assisi. He enjoyed walking in the woods, fishing, gardening, including his “WWII Victory Garden”, was an ardent sports fan, a hobbyist mechanic and tinkerer, and enjoyed bird-watching, and was a dedicated family man. Joseph was a member of many organizations including: the Society of American Military engineers, Who’s Who in Engineering (1982), U.S. Committee on Large Dams, American Society of Civil Engineers, Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Tou Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society, Chi Epsilon Civil Engineers Honorary Society, former member of the Jefferson Hills Borough Planning Commission, St. Joseph’s Branch #479 of the First Catholic Slovak Union, and the National Slovak Society. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave, Glassport, PA 15045. A service will take place on Tuesday, at 10:00 at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, in Clairton. Interment with military honors will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA. Edgar William Budday Jr., age 67 of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2019 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born in McKeesport on August 11th 1952, to the late Edgar William Budday Sr. and Betty Jean (Wilson) Budday. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph Budday, of Jefferson Hills and James R. (Anna) Budday of Wilson, N.C, and nephews, James Budday of Pittsburgh and Michael Budday, of North Carolina. Edgar was a self-employed contractor, he was also a marine that proudly served his country from 1972-1976 during Vietnam. Edgar was a previous officer of the American Legion Post 380 in Dravosburg, and a previous member of F&A Mason in Dravosburg. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Charles W. Herford, 90 of McMurray, PA, formerly of Acme, PA, Mt. Oliver, and South-Side, Pittsburgh, where he was born and raised, passed away peacefully on, Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 at McMurray Hills Manor. He was born in Pittsburgh, on October 11th 1928, to the late Charles and Mary Hannis Herford. Charles was the loving husband of 36 years to the late Marjorie Koszakovszky Herford. He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Ann) Herford, of Colorado Springs, and David (Barbara) Herford, of McMurray, grandchildren, Danielle, Jackson, and Brooke, and great-grandchild, Ayanie. Jean Rita Dworek Hvozdik, 93, a life-long resident of Glassport, passed away on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 at the John J. Kane Regional Center in McKeesport. She was born in Glassport on May 22, 1926 to the late Frank and Martha Dworek. She is survived by her son Francis (Gina) Hvozdik, of Glassport, daughter, Theresa (Bernie) McAllister of Cincinnati Ohio, sisters Irene Orenak, of Irwin, Frances (Ed) Matias, of Glassport, Martha Opfer, of Bethel Park, and brother Ted (Pauline) Dworek of Port Vue, grandchildren Jaison (Beth) Kinser of Cincinnati OH, Jennifer (Brandon) DeVerse of Murfreesboro TN, Bernie McAllister, Adam (Nicole) McAllister, Rachael McAllister, all of Cincinnati OH, Ryan (Lori) Hvozdik of Glassport, Jeremy Hvozdik of Lincoln Boro, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and caretakers sister Martha Opfer and niece Pat Garancsi. Tarquinio Joseph “Tar” “Terry” D’Onofrio, 67, of McKeesport, formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019. He was born in McKeesport on June 10, 1952 to the late Angelo and Elizabeth Skufca D’Onofrio. He is survived by niece, Sherry Andreo, as well as many, many friends. Tarquinio was a faithful member, attendee, and volunteer of St. Marks Parish. He was known for his faith, as well as his kind and gentle disposition. Tarquinio enjoyed playing pool, reading, sports, and loved drinking coffee. Services have been entrusted to S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025.
