Elaine Jean Coulter, 82, of McKeesport passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was born in Clairton on March 30, 1942 to the late Salvatore "Sam" Scappellato and the late Helen (Pasquerell) Kramer. Elaine loved cross-word puzzles, and going to bingo multiple days a week. She is survived by her children, Deanna Coulter of McKeesport, Joyce Coulter of Glassport, Robert (John Ladner) Coulter of Jefferson Hills, and Sherry Vargo of North Huntingdon; her sister, Lois Bernardi of Pleasant Hills; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Judith Kramer, and Lola O'Dea. Leo Thomas Haggerty, 92, of Christy Park, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was born August 30, 1932 in Greenfield and was the son of the late Patrick and Pauline (Deberson) Haggerty. Leo retired from the Operating Engineers and was a US Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of  53 years, Rosalee (Tobacco) Haggerty, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Gallagher, Lois Russo and Irene Magnus. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert G. Moffat at his home in Boston, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 7, 1934 to the late Gladys Matthews Tanzos and Howard L. Moffat. Robert proudly served 40 years at Bell Telephone Company and was a member of the Pioneers Organization of Bell Telephone. He was a member of the Crow’s Nest Social Club and a frequent patron of White Oak American Legion, especially on karaoke night. Throughout his life he was a member of both Mary Mother of God Catholic Church and Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. Robert was known as “The Captain” and “SpongeBob” due to his entertaining personality and perfect singing voice. Sadly, the microphone is silent. The Captain has sung his final song. Robert left an invisible mark on the hearts of everyone he touched. His door was always open, welcoming all with open arms. He was a shining example of joy, love and laughter, illuminating every gathering with his presence. A kind and gentle soul, he embodied the true meaning of family love. May his spirit soar with the angels, basking in the eternal peace and love of The Lord. His legacy will live on through our cherished memories of him.

Joseph G. Scapellato, 86, of Liberty Boro, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025.  He was born February 22, 1939 in Clairton and was the son of the late Joseph and Anita (Bonafortuna) Scapellato.  He was the husband of 54 years to the late Geraldine (Gniazdowski) Scapellato, who passed away October 3, 2018. Joseph was a US Army Veteran and a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne- St. Eugene Worship site. Joseph was a man of great faith and was a member of St. Eugene Church for almost 60 years.  He worked for the former Isaly's stores for 40 years, starting in Clairton and finishing in White Oak, where he had many job titles through the years, including store manager. Joseph would also work for the former Payday's in Elizabeth and also the former Food Land in Pleasant Hills.  He was a sweet and gentle soul who loved his family.  He enjoyed beach trips to Atlantic City, New Jersey and loved his sweets. His favorites were chocolate, danishes and donuts to name a few.  Joseph also enjoyed helping his wife babysit many children throughout the years and loved children.  He will be greatly missed.

Dolores H. “Dee” Thumm, age 91, of White Oak, PA, passed away on January 2, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1934, in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late Ulderico Carlino and Evelyn (DiNino) Carlino, and beloved wife of the late Robert Thumm.

Dee had a strong Christian faith and would witness to anyone of her love for the Lord. She served as a Salvation Army officer in New York City, and as a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ in Iran and Cypress, allowing her the opportunity to visit Jordan, Israel, and Italy. She had excellent secretarial skills and after her return to the United States worked for Cornerstone TV and the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Carolyn L. Brown, 80, of Elizabeth Township passed away Monday, February 24, 2025. She was born at home in Elizabeth on October 29, 1944 to her birth mom, the late Sarah Jane (McSurdy) Fellabaum, and her parents, the late George and Ida Fellabaum. Carrie worked 10+ years as the custodian for EF's Central Elementary before retiring in 2013. She was the most caring, loving, self-less woman anyone could have known. She was the true foundation of the family, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved birds and all animals and she would always pray for Veterans and those gone before her. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph P. Brown, who said - "I knew from day 1 she was going to be my wife." As well as her two children, who in turn, their spouses became her children as well; Jo-ann (Frank) Belmares of Elizabeth Township, and Aaron (Susan) Brown of Elizabeth Township. Her adored grandchildren, Rhiannon, Ryan, Hayden, and Ross; and also her wonderful great-granddaughter, Jane; her siblings, James "Jim Fellabaum, Robert "Bob" (Janet) Fellabaum, and Joyce Fellabaum, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carrie is preceded in death by her brothers, George "Tony" Fellabaum, and Julius, Jan "Davey," and Frankie Kenski. There is no visitation. Richard Alan "Rick" Perkins, 63, of Greenock passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Allegheny General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in McKeesport on December 1, 1961 and is the son of Dorothy "Dee" (Furia) Perkins and the late Richard Perkins. Rick was a 1979 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. Throughout high school, he was in a band and played guitar and bass guitar. He had a passion for music and led a simple life. He worked for Basic Carbide for the past few years, and worked his way up to being head shop grinder. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Amy (Alex) Bernhardt of Westview, and Melissa (Dan) Ridenour of Greenock; his son, Ryan Perkins of Elizabeth; his beloved companion, Tammy Casey of Greenock; grandchildren, Persephone, Makayla, Aiden, and Annabelle; as well as his brother, Darrin (Teresa Demorest) Perkins of Naples, FL.; and his Aunt Lynda Wiatrowski of Canonsburg. Duane "Tim" Seese, Jr., 69, of Glassport formerly of Dravosburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving wife, Jean A. Seese and family. He was born on July 28, 1955 in McKeesport and was the son of Beverly (Miller) Seese and the late Duane T. Seese, Sr. Tim was a Fireman and Heavy Equipment Operator for the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC. He was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church in Dravosburg, the American Legion Post 380 and he was a member of the Free Mason's in Washington DC/Maryland. Dorothy Elizabeth Kaler, 94, of White Oak, formerly of Liberty Boro, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 at her home at The Oaks. She was born August 14, 1930 in Liberty Boro and was the daughter of William B. and Anna (Whitehead) Kaler. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School and went on to work for the former GC Murphy Store #1 as bookkeeper and later for Stratigo's Catering.  Dorothy was a lifelong member and elder of The Liberty Boro Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of The Liberty Church Women, The Senior Sonshiners, and the White Oak Ladies Auxillary Post 701. She had a special belief in Angels and had a vast Angel collection.  She loved living at The Oak's in White Oak for the last 20 years where she made many friends that became like family.

Mary Ellen Benson, 76, of Monroeville, beloved daughter of Carl O. Benson and Mary Ellen (Powers) Benson, both deceased. Survived by brother Carl Joseph Benson and sister Christine E. (Benson) Imgrund, nieces Alane (Benson) Goldberg and Jessica (Benson) Smith and nephews James C. Imgrund and Steven C. Imgrund. Mary Ellen graduated from Penn State University in 1970, and the University of Pittsburgh in 1987 with a master’s degree in library science. She worked in various librarian capacities in her career and spent many years doing so at the Allegheny County Community College, Boyce Campus, where she was head librarian when she retired in 2016. Mary Ellen enjoyed helping the students at the school make the most of the library in their studies and continued working part-time in that capacity after her retirement. Mary Ellen was an exceptional and prolific knitter, often making beautifully knitted gifts for her family and friends, and she volunteered in her retirement making knitted items for those in need. Mary Ellen will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the McKeesport Carnegie Library to honor Mary Ellen’s love of both books and libraries. Hartley Charles King

Hartley Charles King, 91, a prominent local entrepreneur and restaurateur, passed away comfortably at his home in Elizabeth Township on Friday, January 31, 2025.  Born in McKeesport, Pa. in 1933, Hartley was the son of the late Howard and Thelma (Dreiling) King and brother of the late Wayne H. King of White Oak and Melbourne Beach, Fla. A 1951 graduate of McKeesport High School, Hartley proudly attended Lehigh University, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, earning a B.S. in Business Administration in 1956. He then served in the U.S. Army as Specialist Fourth Class in the 557th Engineer Company (LE) stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash., before returning home to work in sales at King and Keeney, Inc., an oil distributorship co-founded by his father.
