Shirley A. Weitzel, 91, of Indian Lake, passed away January 8, 2021 after a short, fierce battle with Covid-19 at Laurel View Village. She was born December 19, 1929 in Ridley Park and was the daughter of the late Jack and Helen (Thompson) Alexander. She was the wife of 53 years to the late Robert D. Weitzel, Jr. Shirley was raised in Ridley Park, Delaware County and graduated from West Chester State College. She taught elementary school, primarily, History and Science, for 5th grade for 30 years. After she was chosen to work in the classroom with the Bicentennial Project of 1776, she became the author of Land O'Goshen, a historical novel, a Tale of Chester County and dedicated it to all of the boys and girls of Chester county, most especially to her children, Patty, Emily and Andrew. Shirley and her husband retired to Indian Lake in 1990 and loved their lake life, including much gardening, bird watching, traveling and community service, just as much as they loved their grandchildren and many beloved pets.

Burton Klein, 94, of Fox Chapel, formerly of White Oak, died Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born August 31, 1926 in McKeesport and was the son of Isadore and Esther (Angerman) Klein. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Alvin Klein. Burt was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was the co-owner of the former Vienna Bakery in McKeesport, and was later employed in the Marketing Dept. of Equitable Resources in Pittsburgh. Burt was a former member of Tree of Life Sfard and was a WWII Army Veteran.

Agnes Garcia, 93, of Manor, formerly of West Newton, passed away at home on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was born August 25, 1927 in Versailles and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Strozin) Boris. She was the wife of the late Louis Garcia. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Colvin of Manor, grandson, Christopher M. (Deana) Colvin of Jeannette, sister, Pauline Machek of Texas and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Machek, Mary Gajdzik, Margaret Korenoski, Julie Drost, Bette Vojovich, and  Ann Kerceman, and brothers, George, John and Michael Boris.

Russell Allan Williams, 72, of McKeesport, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was born December 12, 1948 in Washington and was the son of the late Wesley W. and Evelyn Mae (Reese) Williams. Russell was a member of the Boston United Methodist Church and was retired from Precision Kidd Steel. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation. Russell loved cooking, gardening, restoring cars and being with his family and friends.

Dan was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, White Oak American Legion, IBEW Union Local 5, and enjoyed bowling with his friends at New Great Valley Lanes. He was a US Army Veteran and was retired Electrician. He loved camping and classic cars.

John Stephen Pavlik, Jr., 71, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021. He was born February 17, 1949 in McKeesport and  was the son of the late John Stephen Pavlik, Sr. and Marian Christine (Yonek) Bartko and step-son of the late Joseph Bartko. He was a US ARMY veteran serving in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam and for his service he was awarded The Purple Heart, The National Defense Service Medal,The Army Commendation Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, The Air Medal, and The Vietnam Campaign Medal.  John retired after 30 years of service at US Steel in Clairton. After retirement he taught pipefitting at CCAC and worked for MK Technologies. He was a jack of all trades that could fix anything and was also an Eagle Scout.  He loved boating, camping and sailboats. His favorite past time was spending time at his camp in Waterford on the porch with his dog Misha.

Beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and friend, affectionately known to family members as Butch (Butchie). Ed grew up mostly in Penn Hills and graduated from Penn State University in 1967. He loved animals, especially dogs, and had a way with them. He loved to golf and was especially happy when the weather allowed him to get out on the course. He was also an avid Steelers Fan. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Butch was  retired from Westinghouse Bombardier.

She loved her grandchildren, cooking, baking (especially pies) and dancing. Pauline loved to laugh and make you laugh by her silly antics! She was always lighthearted and smiling, what a blessing she was to us!
