Kenneth W. "Kenny" Datig, 63, of Glen Burnie, MD, formerly of Versailles, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at home.  Kenny was born December 10, 1954 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Gilbert William and Waneta Frances Datig.  He was retired from The Maryland State Department of Transportation where he worked in maintenance and the paint department. Kenny loved cooking, camping and his cat. He enjoyed collecting antiques and figurine cars. He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Edward) Gaussa of Upper St. Clair, his 2 grandsons who he loved so much, Logan and Aidan Gaussa, sisters, Victoria (Paul) Runtich of Adara, Francie (Kurt) Sedlock of Greenock, and Marcia (Peter) Astin of Unity Twp., brother, Gilbert (Reta) of Norfolk, VA, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved cat, Precious.

Fay (Leventhal) Friedman, 100, of Pittsburgh, formerly of McKeesport, died Thursday, July 12, 2018. She was born January 31, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT, and was the daughter of the late Meyer and Ida Leventhal. She was the wife of the late Milton B. Friedman who died August 9, 2000. Fay was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel and the Sisterhood and Hadassah. She was a homemaker and also worked at her late husband Milton's business, Trust Franklin Press. She was a very kind hearted and generous person. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Steve) Finston of Los Angeles, CA, son, Gary J. (Eva) Friedman of Pittsburgh, grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Valen, Amy (Blake) Mayer, Michelle Finston and Matthew Finston, great-grandchildren, Audrey and Leo Valen and Levi Mayer, and nephews, Scott and Alan Gassman. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Belle Copeland and Esther Gassman.

William Kirk Greenwald, 68, of Irwin, died Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was born April 13, 1950 in Monongahela and was the son of the late William Howard and Kathryn M. (Bootman) Greenwald. Kirk was retired from US Steel Irvin Works. He was a member and past vice president of the Elizabeth Forward School Board and was also a member of the American Legion and was a former member of the Mount Vernon Athletic Association. He enjoyed his pool league, being on a ball field and time at the beach. Kirk was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He is survived by sons, William Kern Greenwald of Monroeville and Keith Richard Greenwald (fiancée, Brenda Giraldo) of Mount Lebanon, sisters, Linda (Jim) Hughes of Mount Washington and Betsy Neel of Elizabeth Township, nieces and nephews.

William "Bill" James Peters, 80, of Elizabeth Township, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was born June 25, 1938 in Monessen and was the son of the late Raymond O. and Bertha (Pearce) Peters. Bill was a member of Central Highlands Community Methodist Church, and was a life member of Central Fire Co. He was a member and past president of the Central Lions Club and was a volunteer at the Central Food Pantry for over 20 years. Bill was retired from US Steel Clairton Works after 42 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Jean (Mazzeferri) Peters, sons, Dean (Melania) Peters of Jefferson Hills and William James Peters, Jr., of Elizabeth Township, brother, Raymond Peters of Yardley, grandchildren, Jeana, Kaleena, and Arianna Peters, and nieces and nephews.

Lawrence "Bud" David Schork, 79, of White Oak, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018. He was born January 3, 1939 in Clairton and was the son of the late Lawrence L. and Helen A. Bricker Schork. He was the husband of 27 years to the late Marcia Elaine Schork, who passed away November 8, 2017.  Lawrence worked as a heater for US Steel Clairton Works and was a US Navy Veteran.  He is survived by  daughter, Kelly Schork Veltri of White Oak, sons, Scott (Kellie) and Keith (Stacey) Schork both of White Oak, step-daughter, Michele (Jeffrey) Heinichen and step-son, Michael (Heather) Johnson both of Elizabeth Township, and 13 grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Nathan, Hannah, Noah, Nicolaus, Caleb, McKenna, Nicole, Jeffrey, Matthew, Brandon and Tyler.

Ronald F. "Ron" Morgenstern

Ronald F. "Ron"  Morgenstern, 91, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, July 6, 2018 at home.  He was born February 6, 1927 in Greenock and was the son of  the late Jacob and Bertha Burland Morgenstern. He was husband of the late Audrey (Schriber) Morgenstern.  Ron was retired from management at US Steel for many years and was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock. Ron was a US Army WWII Veteran. Ron was involved in many activities throughout his life. He was a charter member of Greenock Fire Company, former member of the Elizabeth Township Planning Commission,  past president of the Elizabeth Forward School Board and past president and member of The Elizabeth Township Historical Society, in which he was most proud of his work he did for their Lewis and Clark Expedition re-enactment. He was also caretaker of the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Dravo Cemetery and Coulter Cemetery, as well as other local cemeteries. Ron loved researching his family history and any historical information.  He is survived by  grandson, Thomas E. (Brandis) Paull, Jr. of North Huntingdon, granddaughter, Jessica E. (Fiancé Cody Rhoades) Paull, son-in-law, Thomas E. Paull, Sr. of Boston, grandchildren, Jackson and Savannah,  many family and  friends and his dogs, Molly and Katie.

Charles "Chuck" Clinton Northrup, 91, of Allison Park, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was born October 18, 1926 in Pittsburgh and was the husband of the late Dorothy (Rozinsky) Northrup and the late Carol J. (Ludwick) Northrup. Chuck was a member of Park Baptist Church in Versailles. He was also a member of F & AM Lodge #375 and #731, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Shriners and was on the Mount Vernon Cemetery Board of Directors, as well as many other community projects. He was retired from A.B. Murray Co. and was a US Army WWII Veteran. For his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Mark) Caro of the North Hills, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson, nieces and nephews.

Peggy Louise Trent, 88, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Peggy was born July 7, 1929 in Versailles, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Cassie Trent. She was a life-long resident of the McKeesport area before moving to Wilmington, Delaware in 2013. A  member of Boston United Methodist Church and a graduate of the Class of 1947 at McKeesport High School, her hobbies included gardening, theater and classical music. Peggy took piano lessons to fulfill a passion for music. She enjoyed traveling and sports. Her travels took her all across the USA, Europe and the Islands. In her younger years, she loved skiing at Seven Springs.  An avid golfer, Peggy enjoyed playing with a Woman’s Club at Butler Public Golf Course.  Volunteer work included the McKeesport Library and YMCA activities.  Peggy retired as a Cash Manager from G C Murphy Company with 39 years of service and kept in touch with her Murphy colleagues through their MERF Retirement Club.

Margaret "Marge" Hogya, 93, of North Versailles, formerly of Greenock Heights, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at home. She was born March 29, 1925 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Bernari) DiFabio. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Benedict and the late Alex A. Hogya. Marge was a member of St. Patrick Parish and the Ladies of Charity and the Women's Guild and was also a Eucharistic Minister and Greeter. She was a volunteer at Kane Regional in McKeesport for over 20 years and had worked for the former H&H Fish Market and DiFabio's Service Station in McKeesport. Marge was awarded an honorary high school diploma from McKeesport High School on her 80th birthday. She is survived by sons, Gary (Joan) Benedict of Providence Forge, VA, , Richard (Ruth) Benedict of Milford, DE, daughter, Peggy Benedict (Scott) West of Blue Springs, MO, grandchildren, Bonnie Benedict Sharkey, Jon B. Benedict, Justin West, Heather West, Mary Lou Jennings, Richard A. Benedict, and Aimee Benedict, great-grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Sharkey, Meera and Zoe Benedict, Kayleigh, G. Dane, and A. Frederick William "Bud" Hecker, Jr., 86, of White Oak,died Monday, June 25, 2018. Bud was born April 23, 1932 in Donora and was the son of the late Fred and Ida Mae (Neff) Hecker. Bud was a graduate of Grove City College after serving in the US Army during the Korean War. He would then go on to be employed for 31 years at Alco as Chemical Engineer and be an active member at St. Angela Merici Church, White Oak. In retirement, he and his wife lived in Naples, Florida and later in Celebration, Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Eleanor R. (Andrejcak) Hecker, step-daughter, Debra (Dale) Anlauf of North Huntingdon, step-son, Michael Gary (Randi) Macosko of Henderson, NV, daughter, Suzanne (Philip) Johnson of California, sons, Tom (Barbie) Hecker of Colorado, and Jim (Cindy) Hecker, of New Holland, PA, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was born July 7, 1927 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Mehalek) Argus. He was the husband of the late Ida May (Higby) Argus who died June 4, 2012. He retired from the former D & D Electronics in Braddock and was a member of the Buena Vista Fire Co Social Club and the Croatian Club in Versailles. Louis was a US Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. For his service he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.

Lois (Bird) Bonadio of Elizabeth Township passed quietly June 20 at the age of 90 in her home. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 68 years, Frank L.  Bonadio,  formerly of Glassport. She was born February 11, 1928 in Jeannette,  the only daughter of J. William IV and Beatrice Durst Bird.  She graduated from Jeannette High School then trained as an RN in the U.S. Cadet Corps in the School of Nursing at McKeesport Hospital where she worked in the ER until 1951 and was a member of the School of Nursing Alumni Association.  She was also a member of the Elizabeth Twp. Seniors and attended St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp. Lois was a pianist, enjoyed traveling, word puzzles, games, and was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. Her greatest love was her family -- sons Blane (Susan)  of Zelienople, Kent (Kathy) of Penn Trafford, and daughter Joyce (Randy) McDonald of White Oak; her nine grandchildren - David of Lititz, Elizabeth (Brian) of Pleasant Hills, Wesley (Anne) of Athens, OH, Ryan  (Missy) McDonald of Westmoreland City, Derek (Melanie) serving in Rota, Spain, Christopher (Jeannine) of Scott Twp., Michael (Liana) of Marietta, OH, Tyler (Chris March) of Oakland, and her beloved Kevin who passed in 2014 at the age of 25.
