Debra Ann "Bee Bee" Pomposelli, 62, of Christy Park, was called home to heaven on Friday, January 12, 2018. She was born January 13, 1955 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gayle Kelly Pomposelli. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, East McKeesport and worked at the Penn State Greater Allegheny McKeesport Campus for over 30 years. She was a graduate of Penn State University. She will be missed by her only sister, Linda (Dan) Bazylak of Destin, FL, and nieces, Danielle (Chris) Bazylak Fettig and their children, Christian and Weston of Meadville, and Sarah (Justin) Bazylak Dickey and their children, Charlie and Jenna of Atlantic. Bee Bee adored her great-nieces and nephews, as if they were her own children.
Michael Joseph Davis, 80, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, January 11, 2018. He was born November 23, 1937 in Elwood, IN, and was the son of the late Margaret Dyer (Walter) Wallace and Ralph L. Davis. He was the husband of the late Maryann Betz Davis who died November 13, 2017. They were married for 53 years. Michael was a 1955 graduate of the former St. Peter High School in McKeesport and was a US Army Veteran. He was a Group Leader at US Steel Irwin Works and retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church of McKeesport and Calvary Chapel of South Pittsburgh. He was also a member of the Port Vue and White Oak American Legions and the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens. He is survived by his sons, Paul M. (Debbie) Davis of Pennsville, NJ, and Christopher A. (Alycia Albis) Davis of Charlotte, NC, daughter, Susan A. (Ron Hunt) Davis of Port Vue, grandsons, Christopher A. Davis, II, and Jason B. Davis of Charlotte, NC, brother-in-law, Frank G. (Diane) Betz of North Huntingdon, sisters-in-law, Eileen R. Morgan of Liberty Borough and Karen E. Cloonan of Lancaster, nieces and nephews.
Guy Anthony Peluso, 95, of Port Vue, died Monday, January 8, 2018. He was born April 7, 1922 in Glassport and was the son of the late Carmine and Maddalena Corcioni Peluso. He was the husband of the late Anne Hazy Peluso who died January 8, 2016. Guy was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township, Port Vue American Legion, the Italian Social Club and Polish Hall in Glassport, the former Old Timers Softball League in Port Vue, and the former Port Vue Poker Club. He was also a Bugler for the former Pittsburgh Rockets. Guy was a WWII Army Veteran. For his service, he received the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, and the EAME Theatre Victory Medal with 1 Bronze Star. He is survived by his son, Guy M. (Karen) Peluso of Sarasota, FL, daughters, Sandy (Ronald) Mink of Mount Vernon and Dariyn Peluso Campbell of Port Vue, sister, Mary Peluso of Grindstone, grandchildren, Kyndll, Kristy, Lysa, Michael, Brandi, and Karlenn, great-grandchildren, Jim, Lacee, Levi, Josh, Harleigh, Holly, Ally, Skyler, Alyx, and Hunter, great-great-grandchildren, Lille, Richard, Thomas and Jack, nieces and nephews.
Keith Budd Ulander, 72, of West Newton, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born May 23, 1945 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Budd and Louise Hartbarger Ulander. Keith was a sheet metal worker for Sheet Metal Workers Local 12 and was retired from SSM Industries, Pittsburgh. He was a member of VFW Post 7812, Jacktown Ride and Hunt Club, Collinsburg Leiderkranz and Collinsburg Slovenian Club, West Newton LOOM 31, Punta Gorda Elks # 2606, and the Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Club in Frenchville. Keith was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Donna L. Litvany Ulander, step son, Barry Opfer, Jr., and his children, Izabella and Anastazia Opfer of Elizabeth Township, sister, Susan (Jack) Celapino and brother, Greg (Barbara) Ulander of West Newton, nephew, Ryan (Amy) Ulander and their children, Cody and Blake, nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, Gary (Joyce) Litvany of West Newton and many special friends.
Colleen Karabin Lucas, 81, of Elizabeth Township, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. She was born May 16, 1936 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Carloss) Karabin. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School Class of 1954 and graduated from McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. Colleen practiced Nursing for over 40 years and is a member of McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni. Colleen was a born-again Christian for 47 years and attended First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport where she was involved for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Elizabeth Township and Merritt Island, FL. She loved to take photos and shot every event for family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John P. Lucas, Jr. She was a devoted mother to Wendy Lego, son-in-law, Michael Lego and granddaughters, Cassidy Lego, and Caroline Lego of Peters Township.
Nancy J. Dunkis, 58, of Elizabeth Township, died Sunday, December 31, 2017. She was born June 14, 1959 in McKeesport and was the daughter of David G. (Shirley) Dunkis of Moon Township and the late Nancy Young Dunkis who died August 20, 2004, She was a member of St. Patrick Parish, Christy Park, and was a member and past president of the Twentieth Century Club of McKeesport and AMEN Corner. Nancy was a volunteer for Women's Place and was an usherette at PPG Arena. She served as Campaign Manager of Democratic Party Judges Kevin Sasinoski and Donald Machen. She was a graduate of Westminster College and was a Housing Development Coordinator for Allegheny County Economic Development. She was an avid Steeler and Penguin fan. In addition to her father, she is also survived by her step-brothers, Greg (Tina) Spragg of West Aliquippa and Jeff (Heather) Spragg of Oakland, CA, aunts, Mary Anne (Matt) Goodwin of Largo, FL, uncle, Michael Halleron of FL, cousins, Beth Ann Masters of Newark, DE, Jennifer Gildea of Ottsville, David Brinkos of Seminole, FL, Niki (David) Koyalcik, Keli (Eric) Spieger both of Penn Hills, and many friends.
It is with deep sadness that the family of George Michael Cherepko announces he left this earthly realm, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 32 years. George was born in McKeesport on July 14, 1985 where he grew to love the outdoors, bon-fires, sports, and all aspects of the arts including painting, drawing, music and dancing.
George was a loving son, who will forever remain in the hearts and be remembered as a precious gift by his mother Tricia McNelis and step-father Tom Rodgers of Elizabeth Township and George J. Cherepko of McKeesport. In addition, George leaves a legacy of his precious children who he loved beyond words, Natalia, Dylan, and Colin Bargiel and their mother Amanda Bargiel of North Huntingdon, Noah Borreggine-Cherepko and his mother, Noelle Borreggine of McKees Rocks, and Makenna Lace Cherepko and her mother, Chelsea Carini of Belle Vernon.
George was a spirited and loved older brother to Damian Cherepko and sister Chelsea Cherepko of Elizabeth Township. George was the cherished grandson of Kathleen (Kathy) Allen and Toni Lipchey of McKeesport. George will also be fondly missed and loved by his Uncle, Frank (Christie) Kandcer and cousins, Rachel of Pittsburgh, Pierce, Logan and Ethan Kandcer of Elizabeth Township. George will be forever remembered by numerous additional aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Marsha R. Dubos, 80, of Elizabeth Township, died unexpectedly Monday, December 25, 2017 in Jefferson Hospital. She was born August 16, 1937 in West Brownsville and was the daughter of the late Vendel and Mary (Kassia) Reder. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Christian Mother's in Elizabeth Township. She is survived by her husband, Chester S. Dubos, sons, Denis (Krysandra) Dubos of Brentwood, Ronald (Marilyn) Dubos of Waynesburg, and David Dubos of Jefferson Hills, sister, Ruthann Gaylord of Squirrel Hill, grandchildren, Justin, Michael, Devin and Alexa, nieces, nephews, special friend, David North of Jefferson Hills, and her special furry friend, Oskie. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer and Ronald Reder and sisters, Mary Reder, Grace Koches and Helen Horvath. David Charles Taylor, 69, of Rostraver, died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at home. He was born June 3, 1948 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Thomas L. and Agnes Blank Taylor. David had worked for the US Postal Service and was a member of the Rostraver Sportsman's Club and the NRA. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with 1 star and device, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Purple Heart Medal. Margery Lou Burns, 83, of Elizabeth Township, died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at home. She was born June 21, 1934 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late William A. and Jean C. Vernon Hacker. She was the wife of the late Richard "Dick" Thomas Burns, Jr., who died May 21, 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Greg) Barton of North Huntingdon and Marcy Perkins of Forward Township, sister, Dianne (Hartley) King of Mount Vernon, grandchildren, Jamie (David) Diehl, Dana Barton, Amy (fiancée, Adam Gronau) Perkins, and Melissa and Ryan Perkins, great-grandchildren, Timothy and Jason Diehl and Makayla and Aiden Perkins, nieces and nephews.
Rita Louise Hale, 86, of White Oak, died Friday, December 22, 2017. She was born January 20, 1931 in East McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Herman and Lina Weiss Steinebronn. Rita attended First Evangelical Free Church and had worked for the former Westinghouse Air Brake in Wilmerding. She is survived by her husband, Harold R. Hale, daughter, Beverly J. (Robert) Conley of White Oak, sons, Lester R. (Jean) Hale and Martin W. (Gloria) Hale of North Huntingdon, grandchildren, Shawn Conley, Suzanne Henderson, Stephen Conley, Benjamin Hale, Jonathan Hale, Samuel Hale and Courtney Hale, great-grandchildren, Lauren and Jack Conley and Emmeline and Avalyn Henderson.
Barbara J. Smith, 81, of Champion, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was born December 3, 1936 in Tiffin, OH, and was the daughter of the late Milo and Leola (Price) Cramer. Barbara was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Somerset, and the Eastern Star.
She was also a member and past president of Elizabeth Forward Education Association. Barbara was an Elementary School Teacher for the Elizabeth Forward School District and had taught at the Greenock and Elizabeth Elementary Schools. She is survived by her husband, Dale M. Smith, son, Bradley M. Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, daughters, Kelly L. (Jon) Kruper of Jones Mills, and Lori J. (John) Schwerzler of McMurray, grandchildren, Megan, Madison and Mackenzie, brother-in-law, Dr. Raymond B. (Mary Lynne) Smith of Longboat Key, FL, nieces and a nephew.
Nicholas "Nick" Wanchick, Jr., 65, died peacefully in Allegheny General Hospital on December 18, 2017. He was born on August 14, 1952 in Sewickley to the late Nicholas Wanchick, Sr. and Mildred Shimrak Wanchick. He was a master craftsman and headed his own construction company, Wanchick Construction, for almost 40 years. He married Sheri, his beloved wife, in 1978. He was a lifelong resident of Beaver County. Nicholas is survived by his wife, Sheri McMahan Wanchick of Baden, sons Erik Nicholas Wanchick, Wesley Arin Wanchick, and daughter, Katie C'etta Wanchick, grandson, Nicholas "Nicky" Wanchick, sister, Gloria Jean (Robert) Hall, and sister Patricia Ann (Lionel) Rodriguez.
Carl "Fred" Frederick Cole, 70, of Versailles, died Friday, December 15, 2017. He was born April 4, 1947 in Morgantown, WV, and was the son of the late Carl Frederick Cole, Sr, and the late Dolly D. Gamble Cole. Fred was a retired self employed General Contractor. Fred was a member and former Director of the McKeesport Sportsman's Club and was also a member of the NRA. He loved hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, and shooting skeet. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Leslie A. Cook Cole, son, Chad William Cole of Versailles, grandson, Jacob C.W. Cole of Greenock, brothers, J. Scott (Carmella) Cole of Carnegie and Dean Cole of Elizabeth Township, sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Liz" Cole of Finleyville, nieces and nephews.
Shirley Mae DiFalco, 83, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, December 14, 2017. She was born April 24, 1934 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Reby Paul. Shirley was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and the Christian Mothers there. She loved Needlepoint, Crocheting and Craft Shows. She also loved to travel and vacation at the beach. She worked for the former Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph A. DiFalco, sons, Joseph P. DiFalco of Monroeville and Robert (Claire) DiFalco of Murrysville. She was the loving grandmother of Erin, Domenick and Anthony. She is also survived by her cousins, Audrey Smyrnes, Ronald Cooper and Diane Smith.
