James D. Flynn, age 85, of North Huntingdon died April 30, 2016 at his home. He was born October 1, 1930 in Greensburg, Pa., a son of the late harry and Elsie McKay Flynn. Mr. Flynn was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse Bettis Atomic. He was a former Boy Scouts assistant leader who traveled to Filmont, New Mexico with his troop.

Roy E. Miller, age 88, of White Oak died April 27, 2016 in UPMC Mckeesport Hospital. He was born April 29, 1927 in McKeesport, a son of the late Roy and Frances Ihly Miller. Roy was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. He was a graduate of Waynesburg University and was formerly employed by General Motors as an Accountant. He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, yard work, gardening and spending time with his family. Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Miller. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Ann Harvey Miller , four sons, John (Donna), Douglas (Patricia), Mark (Jamie) and James Miller, one sister Catherine 'Kay" and her husband David. 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Bella, Gavin, Mackenzie, Katie and Lexie. Shawn P. Murray, age 36, of North Huntingdon, passed away April 22, 2016 at his home. He was born November 21, 1979 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of David and Patricia Shaul Murray. Shawn was a lightning rod installer for J&G Lightning Protection Co., and was a member of St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon. He was a graduate of Norwin Senior High School, Class of 1999 and graduated from Triangle Tech in 2003. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Jesse; maternal grandmother, Patricia Shaul Dedig; brothers, David and his wife, Amanda, Rick and his partner, Tony; sister, Angel Schaer and her husband, Don; nieces and nephews, Donnie, Alex, Ryan, Peyton, Jeromie, Abby, Natalie and Makayla; Friends will be received on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the James W. Dolores "Dee" Marie Kmetz Frederick, age 84, of White Oak and Largo, FL, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at her home. She was born June 14, 1931 in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late John and Mary Kuzma Kmetz. Prior to her retirement, Dolores was an administrative assistant for the University of Pittsburgh and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Frederick in 2002. She is survived by her son, Mark Frederick and his wife, Allison; daughter, Lisa Frederick; and granddaughter, Amy. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the James W. Earl R. Byers Jr., age 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon. He was born May 25, 1926 in Glassport, PA, a son of the late Earl and Madge Hunt Byers. Prior to his retirement, Earl was a chief aviation mechanic and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of the Ridge Runners Trailer Club and McKeesport Gun Club. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Jane Thomas Byers; children, David and his wife, Lenore, Donna Baker and her husband, Dennis, Lori Higginbotham and her husband, Bill, Kevin Byers and his wife, Mary Ruth; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Jennie R. Serro, 94, of Woodstock, Georgia, formerly of Sarasota, Florida and Irwin, Pennsylvania passed away on April 13, 2016 at the Woodstock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jennie was the daughter of Albert Frowen and Bertha Kellar Frowen of Herminie, Pennsylvania. Jennie grew up in Herminie and met her late husband, Martin Serro, there. With Martin, she owned and operated the Irwin Trailer Sales before retiring in 1975 and moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1980. Jennie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Shirley Jean (Wise) Rosengarth, 80, of Rillton, Pennsylvania, and Port Orange, Florida, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016. She grew up in Whitaker, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Munhall High School in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Earl Wise and Margaret (Mattiko Wise) Scheder of Whitaker. Beloved wife of 59 years to Karl William Rosengarth formerly of Dravosburg, Pennsylvania and devoted, loving mother to Karl William Rosengarth Jr. of Indianola, Pennsylvania, Karol Lynn Rosengarth of Brookline, Pennsylvania, and Erik James Rosengarth of West Newton, Pennsylvania.

Michael Campbell Daube, 92, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 19. Mike most recently resided in North Huntingdon with his son and daughter-in-law. He was married for 63 years to his life’s love, Kathryn Hanna Daube, who pre-deceased him. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Campbell and Scundra Daube; brothers, Esau, Joseph, and George; and sisters, Sue, Millie, and Sara. Mike is survived by his step-mother, Samira Daube; brother, Dan; children, William (Gloria), JoAnn Johnston, and Nancy Pischel (James); grandchildren Mark (Pearl), Elaine Painter (David Isaac), Jeff Johnston, and Katie and Kyla Pischel; step-granddaughters Kristine Fischer (Tim) and Kim Pischel; great-grandchildren John, Ellie, Christian, and Evie Daube; Kathryn, Blythe, Ethan, Anika, and Wyatt Painter; and Norah, Ben, and Samuel Fischer. Mike is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jeri and Vern Daube, Mary Hassick, Esther and Mary Hanna; and many nephews and nieces. He served in Saipan during WW2 and received the Bronze Star. Mike was a lifelong employee of US Steel, starting as a messenger boy and retiring as a drafting department group leader. Mike and Kay were very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Monongahela, until his later years when he worshipped at New Life Presbyterian Church in Harrison City. Mike treasured his family. He was always upbeat, even when hospitalized, and made friends everywhere. Visitation will be from 2–4 pm and 6–8 pm on Friday, April 22 at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. Respects can also be paid on Saturday at 9 am, April 23 at New Life Presbyterian Church, 326 Raymaley Road, Harrison City, PA 15636 prior to the 10 am memorial service. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service, after which the funeral procession will go to the West Newton Cemetery. Sue W. Drescher, age 84, of Coulter, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at her home. She was born October 17, 1931 in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Betty Gault Boden. Prior to her retirement, Sue was an assembler for FEMCO Electric and a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon. Sue was a 62 year charter member of the Coulter Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and treasurer of Coulter Vol. Fire Department for 25 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and ceramics. On March 16, 2016, she and her husband celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.

Lois M. Scandinaro, age 82 of North Huntingdon, died April 12, 2016 at Forbes Regional Hospital. She was born July 10, 1932 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Robert and Loretta Mauer Thornton. Lois was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. She enjoyed crocheting, was an avid card player, watching game shows, camping, jigsaw puzzles, word games, spending family time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank, daughters, Lois Scandinaro, Sandy Spudy and an infant daughter, three sisters, Loretta Rischer, Mary Wise and Betty Rall.
