Matilda L. “Tillie” Morgan, age 95 of White Oak, died Friday, December 29, 2017. She was born November 2, 1922 in Bridgeport, Ohio, the daughter of the late Michael and Frances Skorjane Brescel. She was preceded in death by her husband Earle A. Morgan Jr. and her son Richard. Matilda is survived by her son, Michael Earle (Susan) Morgan of Heathsville, VA, daughter in law, Lea Morgan of N. Versailles, grandchildren; Amber (James) Billy, Rick (Michelle) Morgan, Marc (Kristen) Morgan, and Douglas (Lauren) Morgan, also 10 great grandchildren. She was one of 12 siblings and was the last survivor.

It is with deep sadness that the family of George Michael Cherepko announces he left this earthly realm, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 32 years. George was born in McKeesport on July 14, 1985 where he grew to love the outdoors, bon-fires, sports, and all aspects of the arts including painting, drawing, music and dancing.
George was a loving son, who will forever remain in the hearts and be remembered as a precious gift by his mother Tricia McNelis and step-father Tom Rodgers of Elizabeth Township and George J. Cherepko of McKeesport. In addition, George leaves a legacy of his precious children who he loved beyond words, Natalia, Dylan, and Colin Bargiel and their mother Amanda Bargiel of North Huntingdon, Noah Borreggine-Cherepko and his mother, Noelle Borreggine of McKees Rocks, and Makenna Lace Cherepko and her mother, Chelsea Carini of Belle Vernon.
George was a spirited and loved older brother to Damian Cherepko and sister Chelsea Cherepko of Elizabeth Township. George was the cherished grandson of Kathleen (Kathy) Allen and Toni Lipchey of McKeesport. George will also be fondly missed and loved by his Uncle, Frank (Christie) Kandcer and cousins, Rachel of Pittsburgh, Pierce, Logan and Ethan Kandcer of Elizabeth Township. George will be forever remembered by numerous additional aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Barbara J. Smith, 81, of Champion, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was born December 3, 1936 in Tiffin, OH, and was the daughter of the late Milo and Leola (Price) Cramer. Barbara was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Somerset, and the Eastern Star.
She was also a member and past president of Elizabeth Forward Education Association. Barbara was an Elementary School Teacher for the Elizabeth Forward School District and had taught at the Greenock and Elizabeth Elementary Schools. She is survived by her husband, Dale M. Smith, son, Bradley M. Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, daughters, Kelly L. (Jon) Kruper of Jones Mills, and Lori J. (John) Schwerzler of McMurray, grandchildren, Megan, Madison and Mackenzie, brother-in-law, Dr. Raymond B. (Mary Lynne) Smith of Longboat Key, FL, nieces and a nephew.

Nicholas "Nick" Wanchick, Jr., 65, died peacefully in Allegheny General Hospital on December 18, 2017. He was a master craftsman and headed his own construction company, Wanchick Construction, for almost 40 years. He married Sheri, his beloved wife, in 1978. Born April 15, 1928, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Magdalena (Kijowski) Szalankiewicz and the wife of the late Angelo Tarli, who died August 6, 2004. She first worked at the former Crown Chocolate Company, with 6 years of service and then at Dorothy's Candies with 31 years of creating sweet delights. She was a member of the Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church. She was one of the founders of the Port Vue Legionette Drill Team. She was a member of the Port Vue Seniors, Port Vue Auxiliary Unit 447, Glassport Seniors and Spojnia 132 Polish National Union. She is survived by her children, Diane Jo James-Baran of Port Vue, Alfred Piekielek of Rossiter, PA and Cindi (Robert) Elm of McKeesport; former daughter-in-law, Debbie Piekielek of White Oak, step-children, Barbara (Doug) Bannon of Elizabeth and Carol Prior of Lakeland, FL; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph, Edward "Scratchy" and Helena Szalankiewicz; stepson Anthony Tarli; daughter-in-law, Connie Piekielek.

James Marvin Gurall, 62, of Portersville, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. He was born in McKeesport, PA to Nancy (Dolan) and Andrew Gurall. He graduated from McKeesport High School where he played trumpet in the band and excelled in anything he put his mind to. He was born an artist and passed the time in his younger days drawing and continued on to Theil College, University of West Virginia, and the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. James was a passionate and extremely kind and generous man who enjoyed Classic cars and collecting vintage automotive parts. He enjoyed his walks at Moraine State Park and fishing with his nephews. He loved animals, music, cooking, Nascar, golf and football. He worked at US Steel National Tube Works and then moved on to carpentry where he was recently retired from the Carpenters Union local 230. Jim was extremely loving and proud of his daughter, Melissa Thornton of Monongahela, PA.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Susan Gurall; his daughter Melissa (Joe) Thornton; his step daughters Amberlyn Steighner and Holly Zillionis; his brother Kim (Donna) Gurall of McKeesport, PA, his grandchildren, Madison, Abby, Max, Benjamin, Dejamoura, Serenity, Rachel, and Aaron; his sister in law Jean Vincent Ricker and nieces and nephews, Kimberly (Mike) Quallich, Angela (Jason) Collins, Lance (Crystal) Gurall, Eve McClure, Kristopher Ricker, Erik Ricker as well as many great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends.

Jane M. Brennan, 82, of White Oak, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 after a brief stay in the hospital. She was born on February 24, 1935 in McKeesport to the late Paul F. Brennan and Maxine M. Brennan (Griffiths). Jane devoted her life to the field of Nursing for 40 years prior to her retirement. After graduating from McKeesport High School, she earned post-secondary degrees from the Presbyterian School of Nursing, University of Pittsburgh and the University of North Carolina. During her professional career, she served as Executive Director for various home health nursing agencies and held an executive position at the National League of Nursing. Committed to the field of public health, she taught at Duquesne University and the University of Tennessee and she testified before the Congress of the United States, advocating for proper funding for public health. “Janie” enjoyed reading, travel, and many happy times with her loving family and dear friends. With love and sadness, the family of Kyp L. Anderson announces his passing at the age of 71 on December 10, 2017. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Kyp “Kiki”, passed away in Monroeville, surrounded by loved ones. Born on New Year’s Eve, 1945, in McKeesport, Kyp was the son of the late William Ewald Anderson and Molly Kaminsky Anderson. Kyp was a graduate of Grove City College where he was politically engaged. For 18 years, he worked as a dispatch analyst for Exxon and in subsequent years, Kyp worked for United HealthCare in claims. After retiring, Kyp was able to devote time to his passion for social equality and human rights through various advocacy organizations. He enjoyed traveling; his beloved dog Chrissy; watching golf, the Patriots, and reality TV; and being a proud grandfather. Kyp is survived by daughter Kristin Byzek and her husband Eric; daughter Amy Bair and her husband Jeffrey; grandchildren Molly, Jacob, and Lucy; partner Michael Sprowls; sister Leslie Anderson Boynton and her husband Richard Wieczorek, niece Lisa Gottler and her husband David, niece Jennifer Phillips and her husband Jason, great-nephew Alex, and great-nieces Kaci, Emily, and Alyssa.

George William Buches, 54, of Jefferson Hills, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. He was born January 10, 1963 in McKeesport to the late Stephen J. and Helen Pforsich Buches.
George was a son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend who was loved very much. He was a gentle soul with a kind heart who grew up the youngest of five brothers and a sister. George did not let any of his challenges stop him, always maintaining his sense of humor, positive attitude, and never lamenting or complaining of his situation.
With the support of his family, particularly his mom, who he loved dearly, he had a full life.
George graduated from Mon Valley High School and was active in the boy scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, an award earned by less than 5% of scouts. He also earned the Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, and Order of the Arrow Honors while a member of the Boy Scouts.
He was employed by Kmart for many years as well as running his own business, delivering the Daily News, Pittsburgh Press and the Tribune Review.
In his spare time George was an accomplished artist. He drew many portraits of people he knew, including self-portraits as well as many other subjects.
George was an avid coin collector, a huge Star Wars fan and over the years loved his pet dogs Rusty, Opie, Buck, Max, and especially Riley, his last dog.
George is survived by brothers, James (Laurie) Buches of Pittsburgh, David (Susan) Buches of Middletown, DE, Thomas (Dana) Buches of Greensburg and Timothy (Tammie) Buches of Fort Gay, WV. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Buches. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at S. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th Street, Clairton, PA 15025. Shaw Bonner. Wayne is survived by significant other, Audrey Weingartner; brothers, Robert L. George F. Thomas, 67, of Glassport died Nov. 30, 2017. He is the son of the late James and Annabelle (Markle) Thomas. He is survived by his beloved wife Dianna (Skiba) Thomas; children Jason (Amy LaFrankie) Thomas, Jessie (Tony) Yauch; and Jules (Patience Zupan) Thomas; brother-in-law Greg (Elaina Tyskiewicz) Skiba; grandchildren Jenessa Yauch (Cody) Kudla; Anthony Yauch, Marissa Fouser, Madison Thomas and Maranda Thomas; brother Charles (Carol) Thomas; sister-in-laws Lucie Belfiglio and Monique Bade and his beloved dog Pete; also nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother James Thomas of Nebraska. George was retired from US Steel National Tube. Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport, Sun. 2-4 and 6-8. GERALDINE M. WILSON, 76, of Monroeville, died Nov. 28, 2017. She is the daughter of the late John and Maria (Patrick) Pankiewicz. She is survived by her beloved husband Lawrence Wilson, Jr.; son Edward Mikesell; sister Joan Drosdick; 2 nieces; 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew and also great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Pankiewicz. Geraldine was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church; Monroeville Lions; Democratic Women of Canonsburg; Blind Outdoor Leisure Development and the Elks Lodge #775. A memorial service will be held Sat. Dec. 9, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Old William Penn Highway, Monroeville, at 1:00 pm followed by a service with the Lions Club.
