Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Naccarato, age 59, of West Mifflin, passed away on February 9, 2022. Son of Joan (Manns) Naccarato of Liberty Boro and the late Joseph “Cheech” Naccarato, he was born on August 9, 1962, in Braddock. He was an auto technician for Cochran GMC, enjoyed golf, bowling, helping the kids do home projects and cooking. Martin “Marty” R. Shields, age 73, of North Huntingdon, passed away on February 2, 2022, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown. Born in Braddock on December 24, 1948, he was the son of the late Martin and Elizabeth “Betty” (Sterner) Shields. Marty was the beloved husband of the late Diane (Arlet) Shields; father of Brandon M. Shields of Whitehall, Alyssa D. Shields of North Huntingdon, Amy (John) Arseneau of Reno, NV, and the late Jamie Greene; cherished grandfather of Noah, Emma, Liam, Connor, Ainsley and the late Madison Paige; brother of Leona (late Dwight) Miner of Valparaiso, IN, Darlene and Linda; and Summer Pendro, Godmother of his daughter, Alyssa. He was a retired truck driver from Motor Coils and New England Freight. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Norwin Christian Church. Peter Podunavac, age 94, of West Mifflin, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022, in UPMC Presbyterian. Born in Duquesne on August 8, 1927, he was the son of the late Sava and Theresa (Betics) Podunavac. He worked in general maintenance at Fisher Body and was a member of Teutonia Mannerchor Club, Duquesne. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II. Edward J. Stetz, age 82, of Murphy, NC. Formerly of West Mifflin, West Newton, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 after valiantly fighting a 2 ½ year battle with pancreatic cancer. Ed was born on November 2, 1939, the son of the late Anthony F. Stetz and Helen T. (Fecenko) Stetz. He is survived by his wife, Kim (Hand) Stetz, children, David (Ardith) Stetz, Darlene (Elvin) House, and Dale Stetz. Predeceased by infant daughter Kimberly Ann Stetz. Step-father to Ted Peck and Taylor Finch . Grandfather to Justin, Collin, Ashley, Christina, Robert, Katelyn, Hayley, Katherine, Jake, and Anthony Finch, and a great-grandfather. Brother of Ray (Mary Ann) Stetz, Steve (Carol) Stetz, Dorothy Stetz Zangrilli (Daniel), and Tom Stetz. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed started his construction career with his dad at Stetz Construction, then moved on with Bailey & Sharpe, Woodlawn Builders, and during the building boom in the early ‘80s in the South, he moved his family to Myrtle Beach, SC to form his business, East Shore Homes, Inc., until his retirement. Ed loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation and funeral services are private, with Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy, NC handling the arrangements. James M. “Gibby” Gibbons, age 65, of Ross Twp., formerly of Duquesne, passed away on December 23, 2021. Born in McKeesport on July 18, 1956, he was the son of the late William and Patricia (Cloonan) Gibbons. He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania-Department of Welfare, where he determined eligibility. He also worked for Mon-Yough Community Services, where he was a drug and alcohol counselor. He was a former member of Holy Name Church-Duquesne, loved all Pittsburgh sports, classic cars, car shows & cruises, and sports memorabilia. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He is the brother of Jo (Jack) Znavor of North Huntingdon, Mary (Jim) Bick of West Newton, Maggie (late “Cookie”) Chiponis of West Mifflin, Colleen (Tom) Washko of North Huntingdon, late Patricia (late William “Bill” Lutz) Gibbons, who died Nov. 7, 2021, and late William Gibbons.
