Joseph A. Donkin, age 77, of Elizabeth Twp., and formerly of Clairton passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at home. He retired as an insurance salesman for Columbia Insurance Group and previously worked for Monumental Life Insurance. He was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross in West Mifflin. A graduate of Clairton High School and Suomi Junior College, Hancock, Michigan, he was an active and devoted member of the Clairton Lions Club. Joe was involved in the coordination of an annual golf outing to benefit the UPMC McKeesport Hospital Foundation Lion’s Diabetes Fund. He was an avid golfer and follower of local sports teams, and he loved to travel. Born March 27, 1947, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Margaret L. (Amore) Donkin and husband of the late Patricia M. Donkin. He was preceded in death by brother, Robert J. Donkin. He is survived by many cousins and his godson, Luke Lueckert. Donald R. Gold, age 94 of North Huntingdon, passed away on October 31, 2024. He was born on August 21, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, New York, a son of the late Arthur Gold and Lilian Berlin Gold. Arthur was a member of the Congregation Emanu-El Israel Synagogue and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. In his free time, Donald was a swimming officiant and also enjoyed photography. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his late wife, Diane Tauder, and one sister Anita Boas. He is survived by three sons, Duff Gold (Tracy), Dean Gold, and Dan Gold (Kristen), two daughters, Dana Gold and Dale Gold, and five grandchildren, Micaiah, Desmond, Abra, Dakota, and Kaelin. Mary Lou Jeffcoat, age 55, of McKeesport, died October 26, 2024, at UPMC McKeesport. Born May 31, 1969, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence O. Craig, Jr. and Mary Holden and the widow of the late Jesse Lee Jeffcoat.

James Michael Ondrako, age 84, of McKeesport, passed away on October 27, 2024, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. Born on September 14, 1940, in Uniontown, he was the son of the late John and Mildred (Crable) Ondrako and the beloved husband of Nadine (Gouker) Ondrako. James served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged, carrying with him a lifelong sense of duty and dedication. He was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post 701. Professionally, James worked as a draftsman at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, retiring after many dedicated years. A man of diverse interests, he enjoyed fishing and was a collector of knives, watches, and clocks. He was also a talented artist, sharing his gifts through photography, painting, metalsmithing, and drawing. In his spare time, he found satisfaction in tinkering in his basement, fixing things, and working on cars.

Daniel J. Evans (Pap Dan), 74, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, October
26, 2024, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born on June 30, 1950, in
Braddock, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John and Helen (Mihalov) Evans.
Dan was a faithful member of SS Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church,
Duquesne, where he followed in the footsteps of his father and served as a
Cantor his entire adult life. He graduated with a bachelor’s from Duquesne
University where he met his wife, Susanne (Gillam) and quickly started his
family. He then worked his entire career for U.S. Steel Corporation, over 35
yrs, starting in the mills and working his way to Director of IT and
Infrastructure. In retirement he enjoyed golfing with friends, his support
groups, serving his church, time with family, and watching the Pirates,
Steelers, and Penguins. Pap Dan will be remembered among other things as
a lover of buying Christmas presents, thrilled with finding a bargain, as a
loyal friend, a dedicated father and grandfather, a committed volunteer and
respecter of a good prank. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death
by his long-time partner Elaine M. Baker. He is survived by his three children,
Jennifer M. Magee (Shawn), Gregory D. Evans (Sarah), and Nicholas J. Evans;
his beloved grandchildren Emma-Kate Magee, Anna Magee, and Theodore
Evans; his two sisters, Pamela A. Donkin (Wayne) and Patricia M. Weidman

Thomas (Tom) Francis Lydon, aged 82, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Tom was born on October 11, 1942 in Braddock, PA, the son of Dudley Lydon and Helen Conroy. He grew up in the Point Breeze section of Pittsburgh. He was drafted in 1964 by the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1966. He started his career with US Steel Homestead Works in 1966 until the mills closed in the 1980’s. He worked for the VA Hospital and later worked at the US Postal Service until his retirement in 2006. Tom didn’t have a lot of hobbies, but he enjoyed watching Nascar races, Fox News, and spending time with his dog, Skyler. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Claudia, his children, John (Maryann) and Jeff (Heather), and was extremely proud of his grandson Connor. He is also survived by his brothers, James (Judy) Lydon and John (Pam) Lydon and several nieces and nephews. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. There will be no funeral service and a private cremation. A celebration of life with family and friends will occur at a later date. Elizabeth V. Staso, 91 of North Huntingdon, passed away on October 25, 2024. Born on October 2, 1933, Elizabeth devoted her life to her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Before marrying her late husband, Albert, Elizabeth happily worked at Westinghouse. Post-marriage, she embraced the roles of full-time mother, grandmother, great grandmother and matriarch, enriching her family with unconditional love and care. She created a warm and inviting home. Her commitment to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, and she was revered as the cornerstone that kept her family closely knit. She was the heart of the family, survived by her children Keith, Gary, and Maryann; daughters-in-law Wendy and Joanne and son in-law Seth; grandchildren Jonathan, Amanda, Olivia (Stephen), Ryan, Christina (Jordon), Justin (Keaira), Aleksi, Carly and Gabrielle; and great grandson Bennett, and Randy's fiancé Rita. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Albert, son Randy, and daughter in-law Charlene. Elizabeth’s active involvement with Elizabeth Ann Seton Church provided a source of great joy and fulfillment in her life. Her faith was unwavering and was evident in how she interacted with all people. She developed many friends throughout her life, and enjoyed bowling, bingo and most recently playing cards with her good friends Flo and Barb who provided great joy with a companionship filled with compassion and laughs. Agnes Julia (Pieklo) Pacacha McClain, age 102, formerly of West Mifflin and North Versailles, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Kane Community Center, Scott Twp. Born in Pittsburgh on September 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Reimond) Pieklo. She was a member of Most Precious Blood of Jesus Parish, loved polka dancing and playing the organ and wrote numerous letters to the editors of local newspapers.
She was the wife of the late Steve J. Pacacha and the late Frank R. McClain. She is the mother of Rich (Donna) Pacacha of Ohio, Ron (Kathleen) Pacacha of Florida, Bill (Lynn) Pacacha of PA, Bob (Susan) Pacacha of PA, Maria (Raymond) Aul, of PA, Ginny Blazer of PA, Joe (Dolores) Pacacha of PA and Greg (Sissy) Pacacha of NY. She was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Lavon Halpern, 95, of White Oak, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Lavon was born December 6, 1928 in Elizabeth and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Kassler and the late Anna (Stulpin) Graham. She was the wife of 64 years to the late Robert D. Halpern, who passed away January 31, 2013. Lavon and her high school sweetheart, Bob, organized annual reunions well into their 80’s. She was a dedicated member of Mary, Mother of God Parish- St. Angela Merici Church, since the early days at Rainbow Gardens. Lavon was involved with Bingo, the fish fry, the parish festival and many other groups into her 90s. To celebrate her many volunteer activities, Lavon was awarded The Manifesting the Kingdom Award at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 2015. She will be greatly missed.

David Ulakovic, 78, of North Versailles passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at UPMC East hospital, with family by his bedside. Dave was born on July 21, 1946, the only child of Anna (Smith) and Joseph Ulakovic. After graduating from Westinghouse Memorial High School in 1964, he went on to become a master machinist and skilled tool and die maker.
A lifelong sportsman, he could often be found on the golf course, in a hunting blind, or chatting with his buddies at the McKeesport Sportsmen’s Association gun club & Hartford Heights Fireman’s club. Dave was a storyteller extraordinaire and truly loved his dogs - he was never far from Teagan, his beloved English springer spaniel.
He is survived by wife Suzanne, son Joseph (Kristen), daughter Carrie (Don Lee), daughter Dana (Ben Goldberg-Morse), and grandchildren Travis, Hunter, Calder, and Grier. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (Bob) Giles. Seeing all three of his children become parents was one of Dave’s greatest and proudest joys in life.

She had also formerly worked at The Famous department store in downtown McKeesport, prior to the devastating McKeesport fire of 1976, and as a bookkeeper for the coal mine where her father-in-law was a foreman. Peter D. Janicki, age 66, a lifelong resident of Blaine Hill, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. He retired from the maintenance department at U.S. Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin and was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp. He was a former vice president and president of United Steel Workers Local 2227 and a lifetime member of Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Born April 25, 1958 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Anthony and Rose (Hatalovich) Janicki. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol L. Janicki; sons, Richard (L'Lee) Janicki of Canonsburg, Anthony (Megan) Janicki of Elizabeth Twp. and Brandon (Marissa) Janicki of Blaine Hill; granddaughters, Anastasia and Alina Janicki; sister, Sandra (Marc) Kloszewski of Indiana, PA; and nieces and nephews, Dana (Amelia) Bickerton, Scott Bickerton, Charles Pershing, Juliah Pershing and Nicholas Kloszewski. Joseph Lucarelli Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the age of 72. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 40 years Marilyn. He was the adored father of Daneen (Rick) Peremba of South Park and Melissa (Mark) Matesich of Arizona. Adored Pappy of Courtney McNeal, Aaron (Monica) Peremba and Shane Peremba and great grandson, Hanson.
Joe is also survived by his sisters Bernie (late Bobby) Marcoz and twin sister Mildred “Dee” (late Guy) DiMatteo. Proceeded in passing by parents Joseph and Mildred (Vuic) Lucarelli and sister Marilyn “Chubby” Lucarelli. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and all who loved Joe.
Joe most enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, going to the casino, playing cards, and of course Steeler Football. Joe had a very special place in his heart for his two dogs “kids” Mya and Chloe. Joe attracted everyone with his smile, outgoing personality, and witt. “To know Joe was to love him.”

David LaRoyal Wilson, 91, of McKeesport, was born March 2, 1933, in Fitz Henry, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Floyd and Florence (Miller) Wilson.
David was raised in Fitz Henry, PA, and attended South Huntington High School. After which he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then worked at BFGoodrich in McKeesport and Dow Chemical in West Mifflin when he retired. After retirement, he could enjoy his favorite hobbies, Oldies and Doo-op dancing and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and create fond memories with his loving family and friends.
David went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2024, while he resided at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport, PA.

Richard Alan Harris, 74, of Duquesne, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at home. The beloved husband of Anne Marie (McLaughlin) Harris, Richard was born September 15, 1950, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Stuart Marvin and Anna Rita (Mentzer) Harris. Richard served four years in the Air Force at Langley Air Force Base, where he trained and worked as a carpenter. Richard led a life of dedication as a young man. He served as an altar boy at Saint James Church in Wilkinsburg, and he spent several years as a member of the Boy Scouts of America in Troop One, based at the Mifflin Avenue Methodist Church in Wilkinsburg, where he reached the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of the Order of the Arrow. Though retired at the time of his passing, Rick previously worked as a fabricator at Spectro Chemical and as a courier at Gateway Travel and NAPA Auto Parts. His first love was working with his father, Stuart, as a carpenter. Richard was a member of the Royal Outing Club of Evans City. A descendant of founding members, he celebrated his 50th year of membership there and had served in various offices, including club president. He leaves behind many longtime friends in this community and others. A devout member of the Park Baptist Church, Richard participated in both the Men’s Breakfast and the Bible Study there. “Uncle Rick” was also a dedicated family man who would spend his mornings sending messages to his numerous nieces and nephews each day. He supported youth in many ways, including acting as a Little League coach and watching over his grandchildren. Rick was a fervent Steelers fan. But his favorite thing was spending time with his wife, Anne Marie. The couple were to celebrate forty years of marriage this year.

She was born on October 24, 1946 in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Wilbert and Louise Pollard Demorest. Adela loved to spend time with her family. Adela cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and homemaker, and she enjoyed listening to talk shows on AM radio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Demorest Sr. and Marvin Demorest, and one sister Charlene Kerlin. She is survived by two sons, David Senica (Cindy) and John Senica, one daughter Christie Senica, one brother, Wilbert Demorest, one sister Carrie Ruzyc (John), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joseph Karl Gajdos, age 77, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was born on November 30, 1946 to his parents Steve (Pete) Gajdos and Anne (Magdic) Gajdos. A lifelong resident of the Duquesne-West Mifflin Annex area. He married MaryAnn Novosel on February 15, 1969. Joe was employed at USS Duquesne Works from 1965-1983, in the Maintenance Planning and Development Department. He was then employed at Westinghouse Nuclear Services business unit where he worked as a nuclear parts specialist, product planner, and customer service representative at the New Stanton campus from 1984 until he retired in 2009. Joe served in the US Army as a specialist E5 helicopter mechanic from 1966 until 1968 when he was honorably discharged. He served in the 55th Maintenance Battalion in Camp Humphrys, Korea.
Surviving him is his wife MaryAnn, his daughter Stephanie (late Spank) Zabelsky of Duquesne, PA, his loving grandchildren Jenna (fiancé, Alex Weber) and Jake Zabelsky of Duquesne, PA, his sister Kathy (Dennis) Rakowski of South Park, PA and his beloved dog Xena. He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union (Duquesne-Lodge 320), the American Croatian Club of Duquesne, the TM Social Club of Duquesne, and the Pine Run Outboard Club of Bunola, PA. Joe enjoyed boating the 3 rivers with his family and close friends and attending the picnics at Aleo Lake. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends on Mondays and Thursdays at Butler’s Golf Course in Elizabeth, PA.

Joseph “Joe” Petras of North Huntingdon died October 3, 2024. He was born February 24,1932 in East Pittsburgh, Pa. Joe was a veteran of the Army serving in the 5th Army area during the period after the end of the Korean War and start of the Vietnam war achieving the rank of SP5. He was actively involved in electrical maintenance of the Nike Ajax Missile Defense system. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed by Reliance Electric Co. for 35 years as a Senior Electrical Field Service Engineer. After retirement, Joe was an Electrical Consultant at Cleveland Price Inc. for 22 years. He was a member of Saint Agnes Church, and was very active in polka dancing throughout the years and did extensive video filming of the events for others to enjoy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Bernadine and brothers John and Steve. Joe is survived by his four sons, John (Jennifer), Bill (Diane), Robert( Marianne), Barry (Amy), grandchildren Tyler, Jared, William Ray, Angel, Christy, Mitchell, Andrew, Veronica, 4 great grandchildren and brother William Petras. Virginia Walsh, of North Huntington, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on October 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 1st, 1934, to Frank Di Brango and Maria Di Brango (Foglia) in Pittsburgh and grew up in the neighborhood of Larimer, where she met her late husband John ‘Jack’ Walsh. They had four children, John Walsh, Jerry Walsh, Ginger Schmidt (Walsh), and Frank Walsh. Virginia grew to be an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, having watched many seasons with her late beloved son-in-law, Mike Schmidt, and family. But watching her grandchildren grow on the soccer and baseball field, volleyball court, and theatrical stage gave her the greatest joy. She touched many by the beautiful blankets she knitted, a cherished hobby that warmed both the body and the soul. Virginia is survived by her two sons and daughter, Jerry, Ginger, and Frank (Teresa Bucco), and six grandchildren, Kelly Walsh, Mike Schmidt (Lisa Schmidt), Steve Schmidt (Miranda Schmidt), Andrew Walsh, Jack Walsh and Coleman Walsh, and three great-grandchildren, Landon, Tenley, and Brooks. She was born and died at McKeesport Hospital. She worked as a dental assistant for 26 years after receiving certification from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry. She was also trained as an Emergency Medical Technician.
She volunteered as an adult literacy tutor with the Westmoreland County Literacy Council for 15 years, where she made lifelong friends. She was an avid reader herself.

Sally enjoyed many things in life including shopping and trips to the casino. She loved all holiday, especially Christmas. She loved to cook. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with all of them.

Daryl Juno Newby, 71, of Duquesne, was born January 10, 1953, in McKeesport, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Rester and Eula Stephens Smith. Daryl was the youngest of seven siblings.
Daryl departed this life on September 15, 2024, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport, PA. Her passing was exactly seven years later, the same day as the love of her life. This would be the completion of their beautiful love story.
Daryl attended school at the Duquesne School District where she graduated. She was employed at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in the Dietary Department, and she was a former member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Duquesne, PA.
