Eleanor "Tally" Plummer, 92, of Greenock, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on July 11, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Cheaser and Elizabeth (Hayes) Talavinia. She was also the wife to the late Jack K. Plummer, who passed away October 14, 1995. Tally was a long time member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a past member of the Elizabeth Township Historical Society, and enjoyed puzzle books, jig-saw puzzles, and crocheting. Through the years, Tally crocheted over 400 lap quilts for patients in nursing homes and hospitals in the surrounding areas. She kept track of every quilt she ever made; even down to the colors and stitch pattern she used.

Thomas V. "Chopper" Snyir

Thomas Victor "Chopper" Snyir, 82, of White Oak passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. He was born in Duquesne on October 27, 1940 and was the son to the late William and Elizabeth (Demeter) Snyir. Tom graduated Duquesne University with a Bachelor's in Architecture and worked as a production manager for US Steel for many years. He was also a US Army Veteran, which led him into becoming intrigued with WWII History. Chopper was a member of American Legion #701 in White Oak, as well as a member of 'Pagans Motorcycle Club,' and the 'Chosen Few.'Eventually, he became the owner of Tom's Auto Body Shop in McKeesport, and the President of Street Life Car Club, where Tom was able to put his passion to work for restoring old cars; which a few made into 'Hot Rod' magazine and won 'Peoples Choice Awards' for their complete customizations he created. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, watching horror movies, going hunting, and he loved dancing.

Bruce M. Del Signore

Bruce M. Del Signore, 70, of Elizabeth Township, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30, 2023. He was born  October 23, 1952 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Ernest Dante and Martha Louise (Kenan) Del Signore. Bruce was a 1971 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. He worked 31 years at US Steel Clairton Works as a Heavy Equipment Operator before retiring. Bruce was an active member of the Christian Center Church, where he enjoyed greeting people before every service. For over 20 years, he participated in an annual missionary trip to Philippi, WV for various service projects. In his younger years, he made many road trips in his Datsun 240Z. He loved the outdoors; cutting & stacking fire wood so that he could enjoy warm fires through the cold winters nights. Anywhere he went, anybody he talked to, he made instant friends. His off the wall jokes that came out of nowhere made his friends and family laugh constantly. He loved his ice cream and bakery shops and he would use those shops as landmarks in his directions if you ever asked how to get somewhere.

Kemp Michael Cook, age 59, of North Huntingdon, PA passed away Friday, June 30, 2023. He was born November 11, 1963, and was the son of the late James and Rita (Pozzuto) Cook. Kemp worked as a Machinist at CPI Industries for 25 years where he was actively involved as the Vice President of the Local 5852 Steelworkers Union until his retirement in 2021. He loved nothing more than taking rides on his Harley, spending time with family, and watching Steelers football. Kemp will always be remembered by many as a loving man that would help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife, Dana (Barber) Cook; children, Nakita (Brian) Caine, Antwan and Shawntrale Crosby; grandchildren, Hudson Caine and Alana Crosby; brother, Scott (Haley Mosqueda) Cook; nephews and niece Christopher, Joshua, Evan, and Ava Cook; aunts and uncles, Betty (Daniel) Mains, Donald (Barbara) Pozzuto, Annetta and Lynne Pozzuto; and a host of cousins.  Friends are welcome Friday, July 7, 2023 from 3-5 pm. at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township.(412) 751-5000 Drew J. Joseph Como, 90, of Irwin, formerly of Greenock, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2023. He was born December 30, 1932 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Anthony and Lena (DiMarino) Como. He was the husband of the late Florence Marie "Flossie" (Abercrombie) Como who passed away July 19, 2008. Joseph was retired from the US Postal Service and was a US Marine Veteran serving in the Korean War. For his service he received the US Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Elizabeth Township Ex-Serviceman's Club, the Buena Vista Fire Co. and the Marine Veterans.

Known to family as Tassy and to friends as Kay, she worked for many years at Feig’s Bakery in White Oak and later at Hills Dept. Store and Big Phoenix/Destinta Theater in North Versailles.

Dennis was the Plant Manager at Elizabeth Carbide and retired after 47 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Annette Marie (Romanchak) McLaughlin, sons, Brian James (Victoria) McLaughlin of White Oak and Keith Michael (Mandy) McLaughlin of Elizabeth Township, daughter, Jamie Lynn (Andrew) Butler of White Oak, granddaughters, Allison, Sara, Mia, Avery,and Leni, sisters, Trudy (William) Roman of Elizabeth Township and Bonnie Todd of Port Vue, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Frank Todd, III., and nephew, Frank Todd, IV. Carol Kemp Nill, 84, most recently of Arden Courts Jefferson Hills, previously of McKeesport, Elizabeth Township, and White Oak, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023.  Born June 27, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Carol was the daughter of the late Edward L. Kemp and Carol Virginia Hemington Kemp.  She graduated from Lebanon Junior High in West Mifflin and McKeesport High School.  In 1960, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. In 1960-61, she was a Rotary Fellow to the University of Bombay in India. She received an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh in 1963 and a Masters of Library Science from Pitt in 1968. She served as a librarian at CCAC South Campus for 10 years.  Founder of Womansplace in McKeesport in 1976, she served as Executive Director for five years. Carol was a charter member of McKeesport NOW and the publisher of The McKeesport Feminist newsletter. She was also a co-founder of McKeesport Meals on Wheels and President of McKeesport Little Theater and the Pittsburgh Drama League, President of PA Golf Owners for five years, Vice President of Butler’s Golf Course, and board member of the National Golf Course Owners Association, then also Publisher of Elizabeth Township Life magazine.

Lawrence Craig “Craig” Johnson

Lawrence Craig “Craig” Johnson, 65, passed away on June 22, 2023, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Craig was born April 7, 1958, to Herman and Floy Johnson. He graduated from Galesburg High School, then went on to receive his bachelor's degree at Knox College. Craig then moved to Pittsburgh to further his education. His health failed and he was unable to complete that.

Craig is survived by his sisters, Leslie Fletcher and Kathy Bell, both of Galesburg, Randi (Bruce) Richardson of El Cajon, California, and Sue Carey of Katy, Texas; sister-in-law, Kristy Johnson of Galesburg; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Kaye; brothers, Bruce and Steven; and nephew, Jeff Rickords.

James Edward Quantz, 73, of Elizabeth Township, died suddenly on Friday, June 16, 2023 while riding on the Yough Bike Trail. He was born May 28, 1950 in McKeesport and was the son of the late James Leroy and Mary Theresa (Germack) Quantz. James was retired from Keystone Oaks High School where he had taught Social Studies for 35 years. He was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock. James was a 1968 graduate of McKeesport High School and received his Bachelor and Masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.

Charles Donald “Donnie” Davis, Jr., formerly of Donora, passed away, Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Washington Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 28, 1964 in Monongahela and was the son of the late Charles D. Davis, Sr. and Martha Cuthbert (the late James Murphy) Davis of Duquesne. Donnie worked as a mechanic for many years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his five sisters, Charlene (Jan) Wallace of Harrisburg, Wendy Parks of Monongahela, Sharon Large of Monongahela, Karen (Rusty) Large of Rostraver, and Terri O’Dell of Donora; step-mother, Donna Godsey of Monongahela; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Davis and Keith Davis; sister, Robin Davis; and nephew, Justin Wallace. There will not be any visitation. A private memorial service and burial will be held at Fellsburg Cemetery, at a later date. The family of Stephen (Steve) Andrew Nagy is heartbroken to share that husband, father, and Pop Pop died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home in Pittsboro, North Carolina.

Steve was born on May 1st, 1948, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Theresa Julia Majoros and Arthur Nagy.

He is survived by his loving wife Frances Elizabeth Nagy (Wallace) of 49 years, two daughters, Erica Nagy and husband Bo Pihl of Avon, Colorado, Ashley Nagy and husband Ron Reed of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, two brothers, Arthur Nagy Jr. and wife Dorothy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Carl Nagy and wife Judy also of Pittsburgh, two grandchildren, Ellie and Larson, and three grandpets, Dinah, Luna, and Sylvie. He will be profoundly missed.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his best friend, Jimmy Ward's farm in Greene County. He was always helping out with any yard work, and was a great handyman to his friends.
