Barbara Rose Mayfield, 82, of Liberty Borough, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2022. She was born March 7, 1940 in Port Vue, and is the daughter to the late Charles and Rose (Sucha) Huemme. Barb worked many years in the banking industry, working for the same company, but many locations & various name changes, now known as Huntington Bank. She was a member of Central Highlands Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels, and crocheted with the Shepherds, which is a caring ministry, providing prayer shawls, walker aprons, cards, and even offered prayer support for members and their friends and family within the community. Barb was an avid reader as she would sit up all night to finish a book. She enjoyed baking, traveling & she especially loved her trips to the beach. Barb was a strong-willed, feisty woman, and will be missed by many.

Joan Lee Konias, 87, of Boston, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023. She was born April 26, 1935 in Monongahela and was the daughter of the late Louis and Susan (Bianchi) DeSantis. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, Christy Park. She was also a member of the former Boston Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Joan had worked for the former DeSantis Dairyland in Boston and the former Tastee Donut Bakery. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Konias, son, James (Kim) Konias of Greenock, granddaughter, Lindsay (Howard) Lesofsky of North Huntingdon, great-grandchildren, Reese and Nathan Lesofsky, nephews, Larry (Donna) DeSantis and Darrin (Valerie) DeSantis, and sister-in-law, MaryAnn DeSantis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Salvatore DeSantis. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10 am in the chapel of the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Morris C. Decolati

Morris C. Decolati, 86, of Elizabeth Twp, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.  He was born September 14, 1936 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Morris J. and Rose Virginia (Tozana) Decolati.  Morris was a US NAVY Veteran and was a member of the White Oak American Legion.  He held many jobs throughout his lifetime, he had worked for Copperweld, US Steel, Elizabeth Carbide and retired from Pittsburgh Cryogenics.  He regularly attended Park Baptist Church in Versailles and was involved with the Burger Bash group there.  Morris was a handyman, he could fix anything with some string and some duct tape and was affectionately called Macgyver by his family.  He loved working outside, especially in his garden where he grew lots of vegetables and once grew a pumpkin that was almost 300 pounds.  He also enjoyed fishing, grilling, working on his cars and remodeling his house.  Morris was an amazing man, and was the best husband, daddy and grandfather in the world and taught his family everything. He will be greatly missed by all.

She was born January 2, 1943 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John Makosey and the late Ann (Yanuta) Makosey. Delores loved life and was a free spirit. She lived on her terms and never let anything stop her. She was very family oriented and loved her family very much. She was very charismatic and always said what was on her mind. Scott Michael Mason, 59, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at McKeesport Hospital. He was born September 7, 1963 in Pittsburgh and is the son of Diane Mason Sobczak. Scott worked with Matt Scheller as a shop foreman in landscaping for the past ten years. He was the embodiment of the Renaissance Man; becoming a chef, teaching himself to play guitar, creating art, becoming a problem-solving mechanic and welder, and more than can fit in this small space. Scott was a spitfire who valued honesty in others above all else.

Cecelia Marie Bolen, 83, of West Newton, passed away peacefully on Christmas Morning surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 24, 1939 in Masontown and was the daughter of the late John and Erma (Bodnar) Dubroka. She was the wife of the late James Franklin Bolen who passed away May 19, 2009. Cecelia - known as “Cil,” or “Bubs” to family and close friends - was an incredibly strong, talented woman and a natural “people person” with a contagious smile and energy that touched the lives of so many.

Raised in “Sandybottom” by her own “Bubba,” Cil was a kind, bubbly girl. She was a majorette and graduated from Masontown High School in 1957. While working alongside her future sister-in-law Mary Ellen at the Dairy Queen that same summer, Cil met Jim when he ordered a banana split and described the encounter as “love at first sight.” Unbeknownst to her that Jim was Mary Ellen’s brother, Cil proclaimed, “see that man at the window, I’m going to marry him one day”! She and Jim went on to celebrate more than 50 years of marriage, raised four spirited girls, helped raise several grandchildren, and enjoyed the deep love, support, and respect of family and many dear friends.

Robert R. Robb, 84 of McKeesport, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022.  He was born September 20, 1938 in McKeesport and was the son of the late George Robb, Jr. and Josephine (Kosco) Robb. He was the husband of the late Louise (Gracon) Robb who passed away August 16, 2006 after 46 years of a loving marriage. He is survived by his children: Robert C. (Karen) Robb of White Oak, and Laurie (Christopher) Gricar of North Versailles. Proud Pap of grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jesse) Lape of Liberty Boro, Tyler Gricar (Dara Damianos) of North Versailles, Victoria (Patrick) Kavinski of Buena Vista. Great Grand Pap to Thomas Robb Lape and Henry Lee Lape. He was preceded in death by his brother, George Robb, sister, Adrienne Stewart, and nephew, Jeff Robb. Bob was a retired truck driver for Overnight Transportation, after 33 years of long-distance driving. Through the younger years, Bob was an avid player in baseball and softball.

Paul William Hunter, 63, of Greenock, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022. He was born December 2, 1959 in McKeesport and was the son of Paul "Skip" and Beverly "Joy" (Holsing) Hunter of Greenock. Paul attended the Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church. He loved to sing, and sang in the church choir, as well as a leader of the youth group for many years. He was deeply involved with the Auberle Home in McKeesport where he mentored and fostered young men including his sons, Robert and Amado. He worked for UPMC McKeesport Hospital and had previously worked  for the former G.C. Murphy Co.

John Patrick Kegley, 30, of West Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022.  He was born July 23, 1992 in McKeesport and was the son of Patricia L. (Kevin) Kasan. He worked as a lead electrician for numerous places over the years.  John was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed canoeing, the wilderness, guns and bows.  He enjoyed gaming, watching and attending pro wresting events,and all sports. John was an old soul who enjoyed all genres of music, and loved to dance. He also liked going to the casino and playing craps.    He was studying to become a realtor and barber. John loved his sons, and lived his life for his kids. He had a contagious smile and energy and will be so missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thomas E. Grygo, 93, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was born February 28, 1929 in McKeesport and was the son to the late Leo "Bozo" and Miona (Riley) Grygo. He was the husband to the late Anna R. Grygo, who passed away September 4, 2021. Thomas grew up Catholic and was a former member of St. Perpetua. In his youth, he was a gymnast & throughout his life, he remained an avid jogger. He would listen to music while jogging, but his favorite artist to listen to was Frank Sinatra. He served in the Army, and then went on to work for US Steel for many years before retirement. Thomas absolutely adored his wife, Anna, and devoted his time to taking great care of her throughout their lives together, especially into her later years before her passing. He was a dog lover, and enjoyed spending his time playing and taking care of them too.

(Dobrish) Kengle.  She was the wife of the late Charles Lester Bales who passed away October 19, 2020.  Gayle was a nurse for over 35 years at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  She was a member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church in McKeesport. Gayle enjoyed doing needle-point, embroidery, and doing sudoku, word searches and adult coloring books..

Alice Marie Hasson, 95, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at home. She was born February 14, 1927 in Martin and was the daughter of the late Andrew F. and Mary (Saliek) Ponick. She was the wife of the late Henry Walker Hasson who passed away in 1986. Alice was retired from UPMC McKeesport Hospital. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing Day Lillies and other flowers. She loved to read, travel and discuss history. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Kenneth) Hayward of White Oak, son, David H. (Sandra) Hasson of Elizabeth Township, grandchildren, Erin (fiancée, Michael Haubeil) Hayward, and Ryker H. (Rachelle) Hasson, great-granddaughter, Maddie Jean Hasson, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Ponick, sisters, Margaret Lilley and Mary Louise Ponick, and great-grandson, Nolan Hasson. There is no visitation. Edward H. "Ted" Mains, Jr.

Edward H. "Ted" Mains, Jr., 73, of Penn Township, formerly of White Oak, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He was born April 1, 1949 in Greenock, and was the son of the late Edward H. Mains, Sr., and the late Margaret (Heholt) Mains. Ted graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School, class of 1967 and went into the Army during the Vietnam Era, serving from 1969-1971 as a Military Policeman. After his time in the Army, he worked for W.E. Mains Landscape as a Landscaping Contractor. Ted and his wife, Roberta, were long time members of Sacred Heart, St. Martin de Porres, Corpus Christi, and now of St. Angela Church. Ted was a former WOAA Board of Director, and Football & Softball Coach. In 1999, he underwent a kidney/pancreas double transplant. Post transplant, he stayed active with the transplant community, participating as an athlete and a member of Team Alleghenies, where he won 2 gold medals in golf. Ted really enjoyed starting his day with a "Bunch of Old Guys" getting coffee and breakfast. One of the most important things to do was spending time with his family. Between sporting events, school concerts, or vacations at their South Carolina beach house, Ted prioritized family and the memories they've made over the years.
