Mark O. Bedont Jr., 74, of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Centreville, VA and West Mifflin, PA, died peacefully in his sleep, at home, on Monday, December 13, 2021. He was born on November 20, 1947 to the late Mark O. Sr. and Beatrice (Ardiana) Bedont. Mark graduated from Indiana University of Pa. He retired as a Program Analyst for the U.S. Department of Labor. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972 as a Radio Operator in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing with his son and friends every year in Cross Fork, PA, “The Gabby.” He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Sally, of 37 years; son Alex (Kari) Bedont; Grandchildren, Mark, Melody and Elijah; brothers, Gary and Jeff (Mary) of West Mifflin; Uncle to Melanie (Rob) Vitous, Eric (Lauren) Bedont, Tracey Lape (Mike Warywoda) and Tyler Douglass; Aunt Ada and cousin Joe Genito. Margaret D. Joschak, age 95, of West Mifflin, formerly of North Braddock and Duquesne, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Daughter of the late George and Mary (Petkanick) Dendak, she was born in Duquesne, on March 10, 1926. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish-Good Shepherd Church, the First Ladies Catholic Slovak Union, the Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, a former member of the Good Shepherd Choir and former member of St. Michael’s Altar Rosary Society. She was the beloved wife of the late John Joschak; mother of Richard (late Maxine) Joschak of West Mifflin, Donna (Ron) Powell of Center Twp., and late George “Dudgie” (late Marilyn) Joschak; grandmother of Victoria Powell, Joshua (Diana) Powell, Christina (Matt) Ricupero, Ryan (Nicole) Joschak, Eric (Caitlin) Joschak and Jessica (Justin) Sopko; 9 Great Grandchildren; many Nieces and Nephews; sister of the late Eva (Late Steve) Perish, late Anna (late Paul) Hoydich and late Mary “Jackie” (late Robert) Stoklas. Thomas A. Komar, age 65, of Dravosburg, passed away on December 16, 2021, at home. Born in McKeesport on July 29, 1956, he was the son of the late Andrew and Florence (Bender) Komar. He loved all sports, especially horse racing. Stanley F. Mazer, age 78, of Duquesne, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at home. Born in McKeesport on April 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Stanley and Cecelia J. (Jeroski) Mazer. He was retired from U. S. Steel, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity & St. Hedwig Church, was a former sacristan for St. Hedwig and St. Joseph Churches and he proudly served his country in the Army. Stanley is survived by his brother, Lawrence (Gerry) Mazer of Hamburg, PA; niece, Jennifer (Matt) McElwee; nephew, Timothy (Julie) Mazer; and good friend John Sukenik of Duquesne. Jane F. Ondechek, age 80, of Duquesne, passed away on December 6, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport. Born in Duquesne on January 20, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Ominowicz) Ondechek. Jane was a retired secretary from Meyers, Daragh, Buckler, Bebenek and Eck, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Holy Trinity Church, a member of the GFWC Women’s Club of Duquesne, enjoyed dressing up and good meals. Jane was the sister of Paul (late Connie) Ondechek of Munhall; aunt of Beth (Travis) Knapp of West Mifflin and Jack (Laura Ivaska) Ondechek of Munhall; great aunt of Samantha Bruner; and is also survived by her extended family, the Spells.

Always the brightest smile in the room, Cynthia A. “Cindy” (Funk) Bates, 58, of West Mifflin, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, in the Jefferson Hospital ICU due to Covid complications.
Beloved daughter of Ronald and Patricia (Dancak) Funk of White Oak, formerly of West Mifflin, she was born Feb. 22, 1963, in McKeesport. A 1981 graduate of West Mifflin North High School, she was a customer service representative/nonclinical technician with Express Scripts in Irwin for many years and was formerly employed in the pharmacy at Rite Aid in West Mifflin.
She is survived by her parents; son, James Bates (Tiffany Phillips) of Grindstone; granddaughter, Sophia, who was the light of Cindy’s life; brother, Thomas Funk (Kirsten Pastrick) of North Huntingdon; sister, Diane (Peter) Mills of Naples, Fla.; aunts, Alberta (late Rich) Webb and Barbara (late David) Funk; cousins, Richard Webb and Phillip Webb; nieces, Amie and Claire; great niece, Olivia; and many very dear friends.
A caring daughter, thoughtful sister and niece, great mom and proud grandmother, Cindy could always be counted on. Whether taking care of her parents, being out with friends, or playing with her granddaughter (which she liked best), Cindy had the greatest smile, bubbly personality and a terrific attitude!
She especially loved spending time with her boyfriend, Steve Bower, and they recently were able to enjoy a trip to Sturgis with friends.
So full of life, Cindy had such a beautiful bright soul and was easy to talk to and very understanding.
Friends will be received Wednesday Dec. 8, 2021, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. in the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home, Inc., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, (412-466-3300). A blessing will be offered there Thursday at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Duquesne.

Louis Berry Jr., age 67, of Duquesne, passed away on December 1, 2021, in Washington Hospital. Son of the late Louis and late Antoinette (Bergamasco) Berry Sr., he was born on March 31, 1954, in Braddock. Louis was a retired carpenter and enjoyed knitting rugs, gardening and riding his motorcycle. He proudly served his county in the Army and the National Guard and was deployed during Desert Storm. He is the husband of Karen (Gailliot) Berry for 43 years; brother of Rosemary (Bob) Matthews of Alaska, Lena Berry of McKees Rocks, Joseph Berry, and late Frank (late Angel) Berry; brother-in-law of John and Linda Zitelli of Whitaker. Also survived by mother-in-law, Margaret Gailliot of Whitaker. There is no visitation. Dolores A. Savage, age 95, of West Mifflin, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at home. Daughter of the late Ben and Mary (Pasek) Pacacha, she was born on November 8, 1926, in Duquesne. Dolores was retired from the West Mifflin School District where she worked in the high school cafeteria. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish-Holy Spirit Church and she enjoyed playing cards, baking, bingo, and rooting on the Penguins. Frank “Butch” Bonosky, age 92, of Duquesne, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at UPMC Magee Hospital. Son of the late John and Barbara (Michulis) Bonosky, he was born in Duquesne on May 4, 1929. He was a retired bricklayer for U.S. Steel and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. (Charney) Bonosky for 60 years; father of Patricia (Mark) Bezak of West Mifflin, Karen (Wayne) Peaco of Gilbert, SC, and Frank W. Michael F. Welsh, age 77, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born in McKeesport on August 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Michael “Moe” and Mary (Molanick) Welsh. He was retired from U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works, was a former member of the former Christ the Light of the World Parish, Holy Name Church, now St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, and he enjoyed all sports. He is the father of Carrie (Chris) Simpson of Jefferson Hills, Michael (Marta) Welsh of Miami, FL and Tiffany Welsh of Castle Shannon; grandfather of Ashley (Robert) Nebel and Makena Cooke; great grandfather of Robert Charles Nebel III; brother of Jackie (late Carl) Kisner of Florida and Richard Welsh of Texas.
