Patricia Kay Rogers, age 87, of West Mifflin, known lovingly to most as “Mimi,” “Mum,” “Pat,” or “Tish,” passed away peacefully, on May 31, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester “Bus” Forsyth and Susan (Kerston) Forsyth.
Mimi was the glue to her family and a devoted friend and companion to all who knew her. She loved gambling, sweets, tulips, and her little, white dog, Sparky. In a room full of people, you could easily find her by listening for her laugh. She was known for her cherry squares and Texas sheet cake recipes, which she dutifully made whenever requested (which was often). She had the gift of making anyone she met feel special and important. She was the most loving, welcoming person you would ever meet and we are all blessed to have known her. We find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her husband, Bernie and her son Jamie, in heaven.
She is the loving mother of Cathy (Bruce) Schrieb, Jeff (Karen) Rogers, the late Jamie Rogers, and Michelle (Mark) Studnicki; cherished sister of Shirley Ann Kohl, John Forsyth, and Karen Yunn; devoted grandmother to Jessica, Jamie, Darren, Gabrielle, Maci, Olivia, Claudia and Zoee; and proud great-grandmother to Jordan, Dylan and Westen. Geneva-on-the-Lake was Jeanine’s home as a young adult and lifelong friends were made there. This led to the lake and a cottage at Allen Court becoming her home away from home since 2012. Her aunts, uncles and cousins looked forward to vacations there and spending time with her at the cottage. She relished the role of “house mother” and everyone was welcome for coffee and cocktails, and talks on the porch. Family memories and stories were plentiful and laughter could always be heard long into the evening.
Born March 19, 1952, in Geneva, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jean and Joan Townsend Steimer. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Janet (Fran) Spang of White Oak; brothers, Jim (Martha) Steimer of Bethel Park, and John (the late Rachele) Steimer of Saybrook, Ohio; nieces, Jessica (Brian) Sweeney, Sarah Steimer, Hannah Steimer, Paige Spang and Maura Spang; great nephews, Patrick and Matthew Sweeney; cousins; many friends and a very tight knit circle of girlfriends.
Paige and Maura were especially fortunate to have Aunt Jeanine. They loved being a part of each other’s lives and always felt lucky to have each other. Memories of vacations and funny moments will always be cherished.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR. Parting Prayers will take place at the Funeral Home, at 10:15 a.m., on Thursday, June 1, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., in St. Angela Merici Church of Mary, Mother of God Parish, in White Oak, with Fr.
