Mary Jean (Olesky) Strawins, 78, of East McKeesport, died Thursday November 26, 2020. She was born March 30, 1942 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late John and Adele (Charley) Olesky and was also preceded in death by her husband Thomas L Strawins Jr. Mary Jean graduated from Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing and received a master’s degree from Penn State University. She was a retired Registered Nurse having worked as a private duty, medical practice, and hospital nurse. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St Robert Bellarmine Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Theresa “Teri” M. (Curry) Packosky, 66, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020. She was born June 3, 1954 in Jacksonville, FL, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ursula Ann (Keller) Curry and was also preceded in death by her husband Stephen “Chip” J. Packosky and her brother Thomas Curry. Teri enjoyed reading, visiting the beach in Florida, and was an animal lover. She is survived by her children Sarah Packosky of Erie, Laura Packosky of Latrobe, and Stephen Packosky of McKeesport; her sisters Kathleen (Don) Hackworth of Monroeville and Maureen Cameron of CA; sister in-law Karen Curry; mother in-law Margaret Ivkovich; and many nieces and nephews.

Gertrude L. “Trudy” (Ferree) Vandervort, 70, of North Versailles, died Friday November 20, 2020. She was born February 23, 1950 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Lawrence and LaVerne (Harff) Ferree. In addition to her parents she is precededd in death by her longtime companion Harold D. "Hal" Dennison II.
She was a retired employee of JC Penney, Monroeville. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved music and loved to dance and sing.

Gary Bongartz, 71, of Santa Monica, CA, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday November 3, 2020, at home. He was born June 7, 1949 in McKeesport, the son of Joseph and Sophie (Poohar) Bongartz. Gary received a master’s degree from Penn State University and retired from teaching in California public schools. He is survived by his sister Heidi Bongartz and several cousins. Patricia “Pat” Ann (Glucs) Benson, age 77, of North Versailles, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020. She was born December 13, 1942 in Homestead, the daughter of the late John and Susan Glucs. She was a longtime member of Mary Mother of God Parish (formerly St. Robert Bellarmine) in East McKeesport. She worked as a clerk in retail for Gee Bee’s in the Eastland Mall, Hills in North Versailles, Giant Eagle in North Versailles and FoodLand in McKeesport. She enjoyed bowling and participated in a number of bowling leagues in the area. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Benson.

Margaret (Kondrich) Ligush, 94, of Monroeville, formerly of North Versailles, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Concordia of Monroeville. She was born October 22, 1926 in Braddock, a daughter of the late Alex Sr. and Helen (Timura) Kondrich.
She was a retired employee of Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, West Mifflin, working for 40 years as the main secretary for the head of the nuclear division until her retirement in September 1984. She and her late husband traveled together on numerous bus trips with the North Versailles Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid cross stitcher, lover of Sodoku and working on puzzles of all types.
She was a member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church, Monroeville in her later years and was a member of Linway United Presbyterian Church, North Versailles in her early years, singing in the church choir with Andrew and her sister Elizabeth.

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Flowers, 85, of Jeannette, died October 24, 2020. Betty passed away from several health issues enhanced by the COVID-19 virus. Betty was born November 28, 1934 in McKeesport, the second daughter of Joseph and Anne Kapis. Betty was the surviving spouse of William "Weed-eye" Flowers.
Simply known as Bill and Betty, they spent most of their early married life raising their four children in Duquesne, then moving to Latrobe. Later in life, Bill and Betty retired to Irwin and eventually settled in Jeannette. Betty took great joy in raising her children and helping to raise her grandchildren. She worked as a secretary for several organizations and took great pride in her secretarial skills.

George “Bud” R. McIndoe Jr., age 97, of Irwin, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was born August 23, 1923 in McKeesport, a son of the late George Sr. and Catherine McIndoe. He was a World War II veteran fighter pilot in the Army Air Corp and flew the P47 Thunderbolt airplane in 13 sorties over Germany as part of the 371st Fighter Group, 405 Squadron.
After returning from the war, he worked his entire career for Bettis Atomic Nuclear Power Plant where he was on the forefront of Ultrasonic testing of hairline cracks in stem generation tubes in nuclear submarines. Because of his work, he was requested to preform ultrasonic inspections aboard the Nautilus submarine and the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. Before retiring, he received the Engineering Achievement Award for developing a unique ultrasonic testing device. He built his home on the family homestead in 1955 on Mosside Blvd in Monroeville next door to his mother "Teenie" McIndoe and his sister Jean Bendorf.
Bud and Audrey moved from Monroeville and lived in North Huntingdon from 1976.

Dr. M. Bernard Keisler, 93, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Saturday October 3, 2020. He was born May 12, 1927 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Max and Olga (Hepps) Keisler and was also preceded in death by his wife Marilyn A. (Weiss) Keisler and a brother Morton Keisler.
Dr. Keisler was a retired optometrist having his own practice in Irwin for many years and then semi-retiring and joining Irwin Eye Care until full retirement from optometry. At the age of 50 he received his master’s in public administration and served on the Bureau of Mediation for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
He served as a Pennsylvania independent arbitrator in his final years. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy, a member of Gemilas Chesed Congregation, McKeesport, a former member of Norwin School District Board of Directors, a member of Shidle Lodge No. 601, F. & A.M., Irwin, a longtime member of the Irwin Lions Club, and a longtime voting poll worker.

Raymond F. Croushore, age 73, of North Versailles, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020. He was born March 14, 1947 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Clarence and Violet Croushore.
He was a past member of the United Methodist Church in East McKeesport where he served as a treasurer. He worked as a controller for H.J. Heinz, Isaly’s, Garfield Jubilee, Gregg Services and Electric M&R before retiring.
He always made an effort to remain close with friends and past coworkers and especially loved collecting model trains.
