Jerome N. Baker, 68, of Holt, FL, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020. He was born November 3, 1951 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Jerome P. and Anna L (Grubbs) Baker and was also preceded in death by his wife Kathryn D. “Kathy” Baker. Jerome was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and a retired self-employed mechanic. He is survived by his children Jerome R. “Jerry” Baker (Jessica) of North Huntingdon and Brook Siar (James D. Jr.) of Holt, FL; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; brothers Denny Baker, Randy Baker, and Larry Baker; and nieces and nephews.

She was born September 29, 1943 in East McKeesport, a daughter of the late John and Phoebe Barner. She was a longtime member of Linway United Presbyterian Church in East McKeesport and a past member of Eastern Star. She worked for over 46 years as the manager of housing at Pitt University in Pittsburgh and was a dedicated leader for many years in the local Girl Scouts.

Michael A. Czapor, 72, of Monroeville, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at home. He was born April 24, 1948 in McKeesport, the son of the late Stanley Walter and Margaret Leona (Kachur) Czapor. He was a graduate of Slippery Rock College and retired from U.S. Steel, Clairton Works. He was an Army veteran and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, (St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wilmerding). In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sons Daniel Anthony and David Anthony Czapor and a brother in law. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Patricia A. (Onorato) Czapor; a brother in law; sisters in law; numerous nieces, nephews,cousins, and many friends; and his beloved cat Shady.

Gerald T. Likar, 81, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday September 1, 2020, at home. Jerry worked his entire working life for the family business Likar Roofing of North Versailles.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon, and was a loving man who enjoyed being around his family. He was a son of the late John L. Sr. and Constance (Winslow) Likar and was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Ruth A. (McSteen) Likar and a brother John L. Likar Jr. He is survived by his children Teresa Griffiths and her husband Jim, Kathy Parry and her husband Jerry, and Gerald W. Likar all of North Huntingdon; his former daughter in law Carla Likar; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Joseph) Kiraly, Paul (Amanda) Griffiths, Megan (Eric) Lipp, Natalie Parry (fiancé Josh Miller) and Corbin and Izabelle Likar; his great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tyler, Jayce, and Vivian; a brother Vincent (Iris) Likar; a sister in law Janis Likar; also nieces and nephews.

Fred retired as Maintenance Supervisor of Kennywood Park, West Mifflin, where he was employed for 51 years.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, Shidle Lodge 601, F. & A.M., Irwin, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Temple, Pittsburgh. He was a volunteer of Norwin Area Meals On Wheels and enjoyed yard work and taking care of his flower beds.

James D. Welsh, 90, of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. He was born June 26, 1930 in East McKeesport, a son of the late B.F. “Hank” and Nell (Mackey) Welsh. He was a member of Linway United Presbyterian Church, North Versailles where he served as a Deacon and an Elder, also working many years with the Meals on Wheels program.

Jim was an Army veteran that served during the Korean War, stationed in Manilla, Philippines, a retired machinist for U.S. Steel Research Center, Monroeville, a member of Hilltopers VFW Post 8430, and the American Legion, East McKeesport. He was an avid sports fan that loved the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Jim loved to golf and bowl and once bowled a perfect 300 game in the U.S. Steel Bowling League.

Jack Lloyd Ellenberger, age 72, of North Versailles died on August 13, 2020, the result of a traumatic brain injury. He received two Purple Hearts, while serving in the U.S. Army, as a Vietnam combat infantry soldier. Born February 6, 1948, the older son of the late Harry J. and Bernadine (Stalowski) Ellenberger.

He is survived by his loving “college babe” and wife of 52 years, Sharon (Wolden). He raised and is survived by three wonderful children, Kristin (Dr. Jim) Richards, Jocelyn (Jeff) Bell, and Jack (Michelle) Ellenberger. Jack is survived by and so very proud of his eight grandchildren: Coleman and Caroline Richards; Jennings, Greyson and Charlotte Bell; and Alexi, Leo and Julian Ellenberger.

He’s also survived by his most caring and loving step-father, Ted (Pap Z) Zarichansky, his sister Donna Lee (Louie) Paulisick, brother Darryl “D.J.” Ellenberger, brother-in-law Tom (Linda) Wolden, sister-in-law Sue (Ray) Pecoraro, his Aunt Esther (Joe) DeLeo, six nieces, nine nephews, grand nephews, grand nieces, tons of cousins, and wonderful friends and neighbors.

Jack Richard Sutter, age 91, of White Oak, formerly of North Versailles Twp., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, following a short battle with cancer.

Born in Elizabeth, he was the son of the late Stanley and Bertha Sutter. He graduated from McKeesport Vocational High School and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

Following the war, he was employed for over 34 years at Westinghouse Research and Development Center in Churchill where he participated on the cutting edge of laser and fiber optics development.

He was an accomplished artist and lover of music and was physically active and involved in many activities up to the end. He was especially proud of his work with his beloved church St. John’s Lutheran Church in North Versailles where he served as an adult church school teacher and leader, worship assistant, and choir member and with Meals-On-Wheels where he served for over 25 years.

She was born March 27, 1947 in Clairton, a daughter of the late Julius and Helen M. (Dora) Onyika and was also preceded in death by her brother Dennis Onyika.

She was a former member of First United Methodist Church, East McKeesport, a former Girl Scout Leader and a former union steward while she worked for Lerner’s.

She is survived by her daughters Kristin Starr (Scott Lynch) of Jeannette and Jennifer Starr (Kevin Randall) of North Versailles; her former spouse Allan (Mona) Starr; and a grandson George Allan Randall. She will be missed for her quirky sense of humor and style. She had a heart of gold and a smile that could warm and welcome anybody.
