Susan L. (Norris) Filer, 68, of Pittsburgh, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday February 5, 2020. She was born May 15, 1951 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Lee and Jean (Calmus) Norris and was also preceded in death by a sister Pamela Mitall.
Susan was a caregiver in the healthcare field, but she devoted her life to raising her three children and, in recent years, “Grammy” delighted in helping to lovingly care for her five beautiful grandchildren. When not spending time with her family, she treasured time with numerous close friends, including card club, shared meals, and fun travels.
Whether family, friend, or stranger, Susan had a smile, warm hug, and kind word for every person who crossed her path. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin.

Betty Jane (Hunt) Philipp, age 88, of North Versailles, passed away February 3, 2020. She was born October 22, 1931 in Patton Township, a daughter of the late James and Luella Hunt. She was a long-time member of Linway United Presbyterian Church in North Versailles.
She enjoyed watching the Steelers, Penguins, and Pitt football, as well as going to bingo and dinners at the Ride and Hunt Club in North Huntingdon.
She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and family dogs. She is survived by her daughters Pamela (Scott) Susan of Port Vue and Lorie (James) Moorhead of Rotonda West, Florida; grandchildren Jolene (Chris) Wilson, James (Patty) Moorhead; Mark (Shelly) Susan and Chad Susan; great grandchildren Sierra, Grant, Evelynn, Addison, James III, Savannah and Killian; and twin brother James Hunt from Kettering, Ohio.

Charles “Chick” W. Schwer Jr., age 72, of North Versailles, passed away February 2, 2020. He was born April 22, 1947 in Charleroi, a son of the late Charles (Genevieve) Schwer Sr.
He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Wilmerding and owned many business in the past including the North Versailles Nursery.

She attended Linway United Presbyterian Church in North Versailles and worked of over 30 years before retiring as a nurse’s aide at personal care homes in the area like Autumn Ridge, Lincoln Court and Juniper Village. Mihalik Sr. LaVerne was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport, where she volunteered for the respite group of Catholic Charities and also the monthly grief recovery support group.

Daniel K. Mowery, 75, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020. He was born May 27, 1944 in Irwin, a son of the late LeRoy and Helen (Barrett) Mowery. Dan was a 1962 graduate of Norwin High School, and was a proud U.S. Army veteran that served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1966 – 1968 receiving the Purple Heart. Prior to retirement he worked at Westinghouse (various locations), and as a corrections officer for SCI Pittsburgh and SCI Fayette. He was a lover of muscle cars especially his Corvette, a member of American Legion Post 359, Irwin, and a social member of North Irwin Fireman’s Club.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Irwin Chapter 400, a Past Royal Matron of the Order of The Amaranth, Jeannette Chapter 25, and a charter member and past Worthy Advisor for the Irwin Chapter of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was also a volunteer for Norwin Area Meals On Wheels for over 20 years.

Lloyd Paul Miller, 87, of Irwin, died Tuesday December 31, 2019, at Golden Heights, Irwin. He was born October 9, 1932 in East McKeesport, a son of the late Lloyd P. and Esther Johnson Miller.
He was a retired employee of Bell Telephone with 37 years’ service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin and a former active member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and an avid woodworker and bowler and enjoyed photography. He built both homes his family was raised in.
Paul wintered in Florida for many years with his late wife Suzanna and was a loving father and grandfather.

She worked in the drive thru of Wendy’s Restaurant in Irwin for over 23 years before retiring. She loved to golf, bowl, and travel once a year to Las Vegas and enjoyed coffee with her close friend and neighbor Susan.

She worked as a secretary for the US Navy in Washington, D.C. for over 10 years, then at Rene’s Restaurant in East McKeesport for several years and finally at a woman’s shelter in McKeesport for over 5 years. She loved watching sports especially anything from Pittsburgh, baking, and spending time with her two favorite dogs Hemi and Zoe.
She is survived by her husband of over 53 years Robert S.
