Edward C. Gniazdowski, 83, of Glassport, died March 8, 2024. He is the son of the late Bronislaus and Sally (Wolotkiewicz) Gniazdowski. He is survived by his sister Therese (the late Harry) Green; nephews David (Allyson) Green and Timothy (Elizabeth) Green; great nephew Ethan and great nieces Jordyn and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley and Constantine “Connie” Gniazdowski. Ed was a retired fireman for Allegheny County and was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish, where he served as an alter server and sung in the choir. Joan M. Kostyzak, 88, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Glassport, passed away on March 2, 2024. Born to the late Walter and Joan Razewski, Joan lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to her family and community. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Pamela (the late Edward) Terek and Jacqueline (Eric) Reichanadter, and her cherished grandchildren: Justin (Michelle) Terek, and Taylor (Dan) Zindren, and Tyler and Austin Reichanadter. Her great-grandson Oliver Zindren was just born in January and filled Joan with pride and joy. She also leaves behind her beloved and dedicated brother, Richard (Donna) Razewski and nephews Rick (Sandra) and Greg (Renaye) Razewski. Joan dedicated 45 years of her life as an office manager for Sun Ray Electric Supply Co., where her professionalism and dedication were unwavering. Beyond her professional life, Joan was deeply committed to her faith and community. She was a member of Queen of the Rosary Church (formerly St. Cecilia), where she contributed her time and energy to various activities, including the Christian Mothers and the Friday fish fries. Joan's warmth and friendliness were evident to all who knew her. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her impeccable sense of style and grace was admired by many, always dressed perfectly, and polished, a true reflection of her inner elegance. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport. A memorial mass to celebrate Joan's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together and honor her life. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in Joan's memory.Joan's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. Judith N. Lockhart, 84, of Port Vue, died March 5, 2024. She is the daughter of the late John and Arlene (McDowell) Nosich. She is survived by her husband James “Clancy” Lockhart; daughters Kimberly (John) D’Angelo and Tammy (Patrick) Dolan; son James (Karri) Lockhart; grandchildren Laine, Marissa (Jake), Jenna (Ben), Jamie, Julia (AJ), Kaleigh and Leah; great grandchildren Noelle, Bo and Travis; brother Larry (Marlene) Nosich; her best friend of 70 years, Gail Patrick; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Layne (the late Frankie) Nosich. Judy was retired owner/operator of Clancy’s Pub for 25 years. Judy worked for Sabin China, the Irvin Works and US Steel in Pittsburgh. She loved to bake, especially the family’s chocolate birthday cakes and was known for making the best fudge. Also, her hobbies included reading and listening to “Oldies but Goodies” music. Clancy and Judy were Steelers season ticket holders for 54 years. She loved her Steelers! She enjoyed watching all sports. Most of all, Judy loved her family. She attended all of her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events and activities. She was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed. Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 640 Vermont Ave., Glassport on Thurs. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Alice R. Pierce, 94, of Glassport, formerly of McKeesport, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024 at home. Roberta was affectionately known as "Aunt Bert" to many. She worked at Balsamo's and Cray Brothers in McKeesport for several years before retiring from Rite Aid in Glassport. Born in McKeesport, August 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James and Agatha Pierce. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, with whom she resided and was cared for, Margaret "Peg" and Angelo Norelli of Glassport; nieces and caregivers, goddaughter Angela Hart of Port Vue and Jennifer (Dennis) Norelli-Burke of Glassport; great nieces and nephews, who helped care for her, Kassady and Mackenzie Burke and Angelo (AJ) Hart; sister, Mary (the late Jack) Price in Louisiana; and other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Bill (Pat), James "Skip" (Ellen), Raymond "Fu" (Marge) and Clyde "Bud" Pierce. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 641 Vermont Ave., Glassport. Virginia G. (Jean) Kudla, of Glassport, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at the age of 92, at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Genevieve Wawrzeniak; loving and devoted wife of the late Henry (Hank) Kudla for 55 years. Dearly beloved mother of Mary Jean (Duane) Molinaro, Henry (Cathy) Kudla, Mark (Lori) Kudla, Ruth (Pete) Chiappa and Joe (Regina) Kudla. Loving and proud grandmother of Aaron (Shelly), Joey (Lauren) and Michael Molinaro, Tom, Dan and Kristen Kudla, Chris and Matt (fiance Rachel Bartlett) Chiappa and Joseph II and John Kudla. Her great granddaughter Olivia and great grandson Ethan Molinaro, gave her great joy and enjoyment in her last years. She also had many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by brothers Ray (Irene) and Arthur (Ethel) Wawrzeniak, and sister Evelyn (Stan) Wandel; sisters-in-law Sister Edward Kudla, Evelyn (John) Lizik, and Theresa (Edward) Tyszkiewicz; brothers-in-law John (Helen), Frank (Dorothy), Stan (Mary), Edward (Gina), Ted (Marcie) and Jake Kudla. She was born on April 21, 1931 in Glassport. A graduate of Holy Cross Elementary School and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School, she received a BS in Biology/Chemistry from Duquesne University. While Jean was working as a chemist for the Bureau of Mines, she and Hank married and started their family. After working towards, and graduating with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, she began her career teaching at Holy Cross Elementary School in Glassport, which later became Glassport Catholic Elementary School, and then she taught at Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport. Later, at St. Joseph Regional School in Port Vue, where she taught upper elementary sciences, Jean was always looking for new ways to get students involved and excited about science. That included science projects for both local and regional science fairs. In 1994, her students' science projects (Junior Division) had so many winning entries that she won an award for her students winning the most awards! She also won the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Award, and the Alcoa Fund Award. In 1995, Jean won the Society of Analytical Chemists Award. She won the Golden Apple Award in its first year, given to top teachers in the Pittsburgh diocese. She was also nominated by past students and chosen to be included with the best teachers in America in the "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" publication, 1998 Edition. Jean was very devout in her faith, and it showed by her actions and deeds. She had served as a lector and CCD teacher at Holy Cross Church, and after they merged with St. Cecilla's to become Queen of the Rosary Parish, she became a member of their Choir for many years. She was also active in Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity, and the Rosary Society, where she had been on the Board and past president. Jean was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved being with her family, watching her grandchildren grow up, and being a part of their lives. Her kindness, generosity, and life was a blessing to us all. We would like to thank the staff at Grandview Estates for their care and kindheartedness. We are especially greatful to Commonwealth Hospice aide Christy and nurse Nicole for their outstanding attention, love and compassion given to Jean. Helen Moss, 93, of McKeesport died Jan. 20, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Valent and Mary (Lakovic) Ratesic and beloved wife of the late Samuel Moss. Anna Lee (Roberts) Herrmann, age 74, passed away on January 13, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. Born April 14, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Roberts and the late Jean Louise Callewaert. Anna is survived by her beloved children, Daniel (Michelle) Ellwood, John Ellwood, Maryjean Herrmann, and Rodana (Todd) Gorman. Cherished Nana of Trisha Ellwood, Daniel Ellwood, Morgan (Nick) Beneke, Tyler (Alex) Ellwood, Dalana Gebis, Nicole Ellwood, Brooke Gorman, Aiden Gorman, Ava Ellwood, and Darrin Gorman; great-grandmother of Kaeden, Adryan, Katelynn, and Jayce. Siblings, Marie (Pete) DeHerrera, Edgar (Janet) Roberts, John Hogan, Steven Roberts, Darrell (Pam) Roberts, and Julie (Robin) Barnes. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael David Ellwood, and her sister, Leslie (Kevin) Bohannon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Those who knew Anna will remember that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense happiness, and her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family. Anna’s limitless kindness and caring brought many to regard her as family. She was ‘mom’ and ‘nana’ to many of the friends of her children and grandchildren. As a school bus monitor, she was the kindest of caretakers to her ‘children,’ going above and beyond to make their day special. Anna most loved supporting her grandchildren by attending their sporting events, performances, and celebrating their accomplishments with them. She enjoyed dancing, going to the beach, gardening, and baking sweet treats for her family. Anna leaves behind a legacy of generosity and love, and it was rare to find someone who didn’t just adore her, even after just a short meeting. Sally Jo Ross, 85, of Glassport died Dec. 14, 2023. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Marie Pennington. She is survived by her beloved husband, John R. Ross; children Karen (Larry) Blanchard, John F. Ross, Patricia (Bill) Kiser, Val (Nikki) Ross and Amy (Bob) Deliman; grandchildren Joshua, Brandon, Kara, Christopher, Jimmy, Richard, Billy, Jordan, Cory, Val, Michael, Breeanna and Robert; great grandchildren Skyler, Tyler, Joseph and Colby; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandchildren Johnny and Kimberly and siblings Boykin, Peggy and Gerry. Sally was very strong in her faith and was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish (formerly Queen of the Rosary Parish). John and Sally met in Brunswick, Georgia where John was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Sally and her sister Gerry went to the movies and were throwing popcorn at the sailors to get their attention. It worked. John whisked Sally off to Glassport, Pennsylvania and were married for 68 years. Christmas was her favorite time of year. Always big family parties with plenty of food, drinks, and Elvis. Eugene R. Liebel, Sr., 85, of Glassport died Dec. 5,2023. He is the son of the late Herbert and Clara Liebel. Lawrence D. Dworek Sr., AKA, Paps, 100, of Margate, FL, formerly of Liberty Borough, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2023. He is the son of the late Joseph and Mary Dworek and beloved husband of the late Helen Dworek. He is survived by his son Lawrence Dworek, Jr.; granddaughters Natalie Blotzer, and Noreen Schacht; grandson in law, Naz Lothan; great grandchildren Ashley, Alexia, Nicolas, Justin, and Emalee; great-great grandson Samuel; brother Fred Dworek; sister Donna Mularski; as well as lots of nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Blotzer and granddaughter Nicole Magnus. Lawrence was retired from Copperweld, was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish, and served in the US Army.
Lawrence had a long, beautiful life surrounded by family and friends. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He had a zest for life and loved to go out for car rides to the beach, and play bingo. He enjoyed having family and friends over. He was the sweetest man ever and will be missed immensely.
Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Mon. from 11 to 2 pm, at which time a funeral mass will be held at St. Mark’s Church in Liberty Borough. Interment will take place Tues. at 10:00 am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville with full military honors.
