Patricia G. Heer, 90, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was born November 2, 1931 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Mildred (Weber) Siskos and step-daughter of John Siskos. She was a former manager for Suffolk Cable, North Braddock, and the first female manager of a cable company in Pennsylvania. She was formerly active with and a lifetime member of the Swiss American Society of Pittsburgh and enjoyed travelling with her husband to Switzerland to visit family several times and traveling on the Orient Express. Many years ago she taught PAL cheerleading. She enjoyed polka dancing, was an excellent cook and baker, and was a former democratic committee woman. She left high school as a teen to support her family and later completed her high school education at Norwin High School along with her son Henry Jr., graduating in 1969. The family would like to thank the Excela Health Hospice team for their loving care of Patricia.

She was a member of The Ladies of Charity, The Christian Mothers, and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxillary of Greenock Firehall. James L. Barlow, age 73, of Elizabeth, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Countryside Skilled Nursing. A Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War, he was a retired electrical engineer for Capintec Inc. in Pittsburgh. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where he enjoyed volunteering. Born June 11, 1949 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Openshaw) Barlow. He is survived by his sister, Sarah Barlow Kennedy of Grove City; sister-in-law, Betsy Barlow of Addison; also, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Nancy Barlow, and brother, John Barlow. Philomena E. “Phil” Howard, age 101, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Born in West Mifflin on January 8,1921, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine (Andres) Bost. Philomena was a longtime housekeeper at St. Agnes Parish and during WW II she worked at U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works, where she met her husband. She was a member of St. Thomas Parish-St. Agnes Church, a distinguished graduate of St. Agnes Grade School, an avid Pirate fan, hosted many Christmas Eve celebrations and Sunday Steelers game parties. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was the wife of the late James Howard; mother of James F. (Carol) Howard of West Mifflin, Terrence D. (Jean) Howard of West Mifflin, Patricia H. (Tom) Klocko of West Mifflin, and Susan M. Howard of West Mifflin; grandmother of James “Murt” Howard, Andrew Howard, Megan Howard, Mariah Howard, and Daniel Howard. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, John (Mary) Bost, Catherine (Andrew) Noll, Albert Bost, Alberta (James) Budai, Mary (Tony) Albrecht, Rinehart (Betty) Bost, Cecelia “Sis” (William “Chip”) Chobirko, and Rose (George) Sovich. She was born July 25, 1927 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Leo and Marie Whigham Mullaly. She was the wife of 7 years to the late Louis Luberti, who passed away December 19, 1991. Marie was a proud graduate of The Mercy School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She was also a United States Army Cadet Nurse. She proudly worked as a nurse for over 50 years. Elsie M. Creese, 91, of West Mifflin died Saturday, July 16, 2022. She is the daughter of the late Elmer and Catherine (Hotz) Saunders and beloved wife of the late Glenn L. Creese. She is survived by daughter Donna Creese; grandchildren Lisa (Kevin) Jones-Ritz and Matthew (Amber) Jones; great-grandchildren Ian and Emma Ritz and Elijah Jones; lifelong best friend Janet Dzurilla; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughters Bonnie Creese and Karen Jones; siblings Homer Saunders, Harry Saunders, John Saunders, Catherine Anderson, Leona Anderson, Hazel Kampe, Ida "Betty" Saunders, Elva "Mickey" Magill and Elmer "Bucky" Saunders. Elsie was a retired registered nurse and a member of the Homeville Christian Church. Friends recieved Monday 6-8 and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 at the Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne. Sandy (Sandra) L. Zelno, 74, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Scranton, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 16, 2022 at her home. She was born September 20, 1947 and was raised by her grandmother, uncles and aunt. Sandy was an advocate for children, served as a State Certified Lobbyist for the Education Law Center, where she was an expert in public school state funding reform and co-founded the PA School Reform Project. Also as an expert in school funding, she played a critical role in getting the state to do a costing out study for public education. This study continues to be relied upon as the battle for an adequate and equitable continuous in PA state courts and in the legislature. Previously she worked for Mon Valley Education Consortium and Norwin School District. She served with the PTA on the local and state level and was regional vice president of the National PTA Chapter and past president of the state PTA. She also served as the state and national parliamentarian for the PTA. Locally she had been involved with Girl Scouts, Norwin Public Library and Norwin Band Aides. She was preceded in death by her uncles, Eugene Squires and Gordon Hughes; aunt, Alice Hughes, cousin, Gordon Hughes Jr., brothers-in-law John Galeano and Mitch Zelno and his wife Rosanne. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Nicholas Zelno; daughter, Sherry Zelno; cousins, with whom she was raised, Martha Hughes Neary, Nancy Hughes Hodanich and Eugene Hughes; Gordon's wife, Mary Ann Hughes; and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Frances Heaney and Gene, Marilyn (Rich) Charsky, and Denice Galeano. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the James W. G. Jane Inks, 77, of Irwin, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022. She was born on October 6, 1944, in Gallitzin, PA to Ralph and Genevieve Ratchford and was the last of eight children all of whom preceded her in death. Married to Rev. Paul Inks on July 28, 1962. Jane passed just 2 weeks shy of their 60th anniversary. They have two children – Karen (Scott) Casturo of North Canton, OH and Keith (Marcy) Inks of Waterford, PA. She was the grandmother of eight: Chelsey (Brice) Burner, Scott (Caroline) Casturo, Ashton (Kevin) Crowl, Tiffany (Brock) Himmelheber, Jessica (Joseph) McIntire, Casey (Tyler) Alexander, Jacob Inks and Callie Inks; and eleven great grandchildren.
Active in Christian life and ministry; She was the organist in her home church for several years, an accomplished pianist, choir member in several churches, led children’s choirs, rang bells in bell choirs, taught third and fourth grade Sunday School classes, did clown ministry, was a Bible school teacher / leader, served on the conference family ministry team, was on the District Committee on Superintendency, and served on the Meals on Wheels Board in the 1970’s. Jane was a den mother for Cub Scouts, loved gardening and bird watching. She enjoyed artwork, ceramics and doing cross-stitching spending countless hours creating beautiful quilts and Christmas stockings for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff on 2AB at Westmoreland Hospital who were very compassionate and kind during her stay. They all said she was a favorite patient because she was so friendly and kind to everyone. Which is no surprise because everyone who knew her felt the same way about this loving woman.

Richard A. "Rick" Combetty, 60, of Boston, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022. He was born October 19, 1961 and grew up in East McKeesport. He was the son of the late Albert and Dora (Ainsworth) Combetty. Rick retired from Bechtel Bettis as an HVAC Technician. He was also proprietor of Combetty Heating and Cooling. Rick was a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was a man of great character and known for his integrity who always put others first. His greatest loves were his family and his dog Rosco. He was an avid Mustang enthusiast who enjoyed attending car shows with his 1991 Mustang. He also enjoyed cooking and trying new restaurants.

(Richards) Johnson. Don was a family man and proud of his sons and daughter’s in law; Neil and Wendy and Eric and Amy. Both families reside in North Huntington along with his grandchildren; Cory, Brady, Karlie, and Tanner Johnson. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and any family sporting event or family gathering. Sr. Lucille received her BS in Education from St. John College and also an associate's degree in business administration from Robert Morris University. She worked as a teacher, in the business office at the Divine Redeemer Memorial Hospital in St. Paul, MN, and as treasurer for the Villa St. Teresa in Darby. In her spare time, Sr. Lucille enjoyed reading, watching "Jeopardy" and "Little House on the Prarie," comic strips in the newspaper, and had a lovely singing voice.
