Judy (Judith Anderson Freund) Beisswenger

Our dear mother, Judy (Judith Anderson Freund) Beisswenger, passed away on May 27, 2022 at the age of 78. She was a wonderful woman with many friends in the Pittsburgh, PA, area and in Nashville, TN.

Judy was born July 2,1943 to Ernie and Doris Anderson of McKeesport, PA, and is survived by her siblings, David Anderson of St. Augustine, FL, and Joan (Sam) Patterson of Lancaster, PA. She graduated from McKeesport High School, Slippery Rock State College (where she was a founding sister of the Delta Zeta sorority) and Penn State University. She taught and substituted in business and English at McKeesport High School for many years.

Judy married fellow teacher John Freund in 1966 and is survived by their four children and grandchildren, Carol (Rick) Taylor (Samuel, Amanda, and Ruby), of Nashville, TN, David (Suzanne) Freund (Tarrah, Zachary, and Robyn) of Butler, PA, John (Janice) Freund of Raleigh, NC, and Ruth (Jason) Bacher (Aubriella and Madilynne) of Butler, PA. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was proud to serve as President of the Women’s Association of the Builder’s Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh. She worked very hard on the development of the scholarship fund. In 2005 Judy married Don Beisswenger in Nashville and became very involved in advocacy for the homeless and also volunteered for over ten years at Vanderbilt 100 Oaks and was pleased to serve on the advisory board of Vanderbilt Hospital. She greatly loved her step-children, grandchildren, and their families.

Charles A. “Chaz” Ginardi, age 84, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the home of his former daughter-in-law, in North Huntingdon, Deserie Ginardi. Born in McKeesport, on September 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles and Ann (Cerra) Ginardi. He was a retired product sales manager for U.S. Steel, was a former member of St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, a member of the Jacktown Ride and Hunt Club and a member of the Irwin Police Athletic Association. He was an avid golfer, with a hole in one at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, SC. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Carol W. (Wabrick) Ginardi; father of Joni Ginardi Lee of Monongahela, Charles A. Ginardi Jr. of North Huntingdon, Gina L. Ginardi of Homestead, PA and Anita C. (late Larry) Wallace of South Carolina; 7 grandchildren- Jen, Charla, Ashley, Chelsea, Ryan, Hayley and Leah; 9 great grandchildren; and brother, Raymond A. Ginardi of Florida. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE,  15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. Margaret “Peggy” L. Glotzbach, 73, died Friday May 27, 2022. She is the daughter of the late Norman and Sarah (Settlemaier) Schmidt. Wife of the late Robert Glotzbach. She is survived by daughters Melissa (Brian) D’Angelo and Dawn (Scott) Malcolm; son David (Jaime) Wagner; grandchildren Nathan Schmidt, Christian Krantz, Samantha Malcolm and Ryder Malcolm; siblings Norman (Laura) Schmidt, Sandra Masdea, Lorraine (Bryan) Cotter, Larry (Marie) Schmidt, and Kimberly (David) Zorn and the late Elaine (Willam) Marcus; also nieces and nephews. Peggy loved to craft, listen to music, play bingo, and she loved her Pepsi. A special thanks to the Baldwin Health Center for all of their love and support over the years. Debra L. Snyder, 69, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.  She was born July 16, 1952 in Braddock, a daughter of the late Merle and Marian (DeWitt) Gruber.  Prior to her retirement, Debra was the manager of the Eagle's Nest for Giant Eagle.  She was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School Class of '70 and past treasurer of the Norwin Art League.  She taught line dancing, and enjoyed ballroom dancing, swing dancing and doing art & crafts and ceramics.  Debra is survived by her husband, John Snyder; son, Andrew Snyder and his wife, Heidi; daughter, Carolyn Andrejcak; sister, Cindy (Gary) Lichius, Pam (Larry) Weckerly; grandchildren, Abigail, Andrew (A.J) and Thomas.  Friends will be received from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the James W. James J. Aversa

James J. "Jim" Aversa, III, age 55, of Wilkins Twp., died May 24, 2022, at AHN Forbes Hospital.  Born January 30, 1967, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James Jr. and Eva (DeLeonardo) Aversa and the loving husband of Marisa (Rodriguez) Aversa for 25 years.  Jim was a 1986 graduate of Swissvale High School and a volunteer with the Swissvale Fire Department from 1987 to 1999.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan who could tell you stats about different players like it was second nature.  Jim was a proud dad and was known for his generosity, and his final gift came through organ donation with CORE.  In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by children, Megan L. Aversa, Cate L. Aversa, and James J. She was a member of  Dormition of the Holy Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church, McKeesport. She grew up in the Crawford Village Housing Projects and later in life became the first female Trustee for the Edwin R. Crawford Foundation. She was a Legal Secretary for 37 years for the late George F. Young and then became an Account Manager for Alpine Packaging for 9 years.

Izydorczyk, age 89 of Port Vue, passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 26, 2022.  Born October 9, 1932 in Duquesne, he was a son of Julian and Mary (Chmieleski) Izydorczyk.  A member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish and the former St. Joseph's Parish in Port Vue, Eugene began his career as manager of the butcher shop in Foodland in Forest Hills, enjoyed many years as a butcher at Super Duper Market in Port Vue, and finished his career at Rendulic's Meatpacking in the Upper 10th. Ward, McKeesport.  On his own, he offered his services dressing hunted game and also made and sold his own homemade hot sausage.  Eugene is survived by his wife, to whom he was married since February 12, 1958,  Rose (Molinaro) Izydorczyk; his children Pamela (Robert) Fagin of Port Vue, Mark (Monica) Izydorczyk of Elizabeth Twp., Greg (Angela) Izydorczyk of Fairfax, VA, Eugene (Annaliza) Izydorczyk of Gilbert, AZ, and Marijo (Rick) Speidel of Elizabeth Twp.; his grandchildren Alexander, Kathryn (fiance' Hunter Hamilton), and Elizabeth Fagin, Kristal (Doug) Szokoly, Jacquelyn (Steve) Dufalla, and Dylan, Sofia, Austin, and Lauren Izydorczyk; his great-grandchildren Greyson and Giuliana Szokoly, Tyler and Porter Dufalla, and Alaina Fagin; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his brothers James, Albin, and Robert Izydorczyk.

Timothy P. "Timmy" Begandy, 66, of Port Vue, passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia on May 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 24, 1955 in McKeesport and was the son of  Patricia Jean (Neidermyer) Begandy and the late Peter Begandy.  Timothy worked for Dura-Bond Industries in the saw room and as a train conductor.  He was a lifetime member of the Rustic Lounge and Port Vue Pub. He loved the beach, especially Outer Banks, The Beatles, and was a huge Civil War buff. Timothy's favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz, which he received many gifts of and collected a lot of memorabilia over the years. He had a special passion for airplane and train simulators and aspired to be a biplane pilot and train engineer. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion of over 25 years, Sharon Baldis; daughter, Celeste Begandy; step-son, Ryan (Stephanie) Baldis and their children, AJ and Lexa; and his sister, Gina Dolby.  There is no visitation or services. Charles (Charlie) Donald Mikell Sr.

Charles (Charlie) Donald Mikell Sr., 88, of Monroeville formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022. Charles was born January 12, 1934, in McKeesport, PA. to the late Sadie and Eugene Mikell.

During his lifetime, Charlie (as his close friends and family called him) graduated from McKeesport High School in 1952; served in the Armed Forces as a Marine from 1952-1955 where he was Honorably Discharged as a PFC and received the medals of National Defense and Good Conduct. Charlie graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Lincoln University in 1959. Soon after he married the love of his life, former wife Jacqueline (Henry) Mikell and they spent 50 loving years together. He was also a second father to his “live-in” nephew, Cuyler Frank Mikell of Mount Lebanon, PA. Charlie was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church until it closed.

Charlie was politically active and community-minded and received many rewards and acclimates. He mentored numerous African American youths regarding educational and life goals. His additional accomplishments included: Director of Community Action Pittsburgh (CAP) 1965-1972, CEO of CAP 1972-1977, Master of Public Health Degree from University of Pittsburgh (1972), President of the McKeesport Chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (1972-1976), McKeesport City Councilman (1982-1987). As a reward for his role with the NAACP, Charlie and his family were invited to President Jimmy Carter’s Inauguration in 1977. Charlie also served on a CDC Task Force for AIDS research during the height of the AIDS epidemic; and many charitable boards such as the Pittsburgh Mental Health and Mental Retardation, the Boy Scouts of America – Calvary United Methodist Church chapter, and others.

Karen M. Horvath, age 66, of Port Vue, died May 23, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport. Born October 3, 1955, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Emil E. and Ida E. (Coddington) Yesensky and the wife of the late Louis S. Horvath.

Karen enjoyed learning new things, being on her computer, and cooking vegetarian meals. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening. Karen loved animals and her Chihuahua, Pablo. She was smart, quick-witted, always willing to help others, and loved spending time with family and friends.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Taylor (Tom) Cadonic; brother, Emil "Tim" Yesensky; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kisan, age 58 of McKeesport, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.  Born September 15, 1963 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Stephen and Julia (Petach) Kisan.  A member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport and graduate of both Serra High School and Ohio Institute of Technology/DeVry in Columbus, OH, David worked as a technician for Mood Media and was also the owner and proprietor of Dave Does AV.  He most of all loved spending time with his children, had a deep appreciation and knowledge of music, and enjoyed motorcycling on his Harley.  David is survived by his wife of 33 years Terri (Skotnicki) Kisan; his children David (Danny Currier), Ethan, Kayla, Keyland, Maxwell, Mason, and Brison Kisan; his brothers Stephen A. (Barbara) Kisan of Cleveland, OH and Michael J. Kisan of Versailles; and also nieces and nephews.
