JACK D. SPELL Jr. Age 70, of Duquesne, on December 17, 2016, at home. He was a son of the late Jack D. and Anne (Hamarich) Spell, Sr. He was retired from U.S. Steel Clairton Works with 35 years service where he was a Larry car operator. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne. He was an avid fisherman. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps with service in Vietnam and after returning to the United States he served as a drill instructor at Quantico, VA. Beloved husband of 40 years to Edith E. (Estochin) Spell; father of Jack (Karen) Spell III of Liberty Borough and Lisa Spell of White Oak; grandfather of Brandon, Ashley, Justin and Declan Spell; brother of William (Debbie) Spell of Duquesne and the late Robert (surviving spouse Judith) Spell of White Oak; son-in-law of Mildred (late Edward) Estochin of East McKeesport; also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the MALOY - SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300 with additional visitation on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne at which time services will be held. Rev. Judith Slater officiating. Burial with military honors at Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin.

He was the retired owner and operator of James Fetchen Trucking in Bunola and a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Clairton Anglers Club. He enjoyed hunting, loved his grandchildren and especially watching their sporting events.

After completing his life of service to God, his family, community and country, Bill Adams, 92, a lifelong resident of Duquesne, PA passed from this life to everlasting life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. Bill’s legacy as a servant of the Lord is far-reaching. At the early age of 19, he served his country in the Army earning five battle stars in the European Theatre during WWII. He began his community service as a police officer for the City of Duquesne. Following his retirement, he worked as a homicide detective for Allegheny County. Bill was later employed as a security guard of the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh.

Verna M. Flohr, age 76, of McKeesport, died December 12, 2016, at Riverside Care Center with her family at her side. Born September 9, 1940, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Corrine (Lees) Hall and the wife of the late John R. "Dusty" Flohr. Verna retired from the G.C. Murphy Company Sign Shop, where she worked as a graphic artist for nearly 30 years. She then worked at the Jefferson Hospital Cafeteria and she was an in home care giver for many years. Verna was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shuffle board, bingo and she had a passion for traveling and shopping. She is survived by children, Deborah (Daniel) Hurley of White Oak, Elizabeth Sostaric of mcKeesport, Tammy Duran of McKeesport, Dale Flohr of Pittsburgh and Gregg Flohr of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Scott (Jackie) Hurley, Christopher Hurley, Jason Sostaric, Christine Sostaric, Mindy Duran, Rachel Duran, Chad (Maddie) Duran, Megan Flohr, Shannon Flohr, Mallory Flohr, Tabitha (Shane) Cook, Gregg Flohr and Jessica Flohr; great grandchildren, Darryl, Caden, Tristen; great aunt, Gertrude Curry; sister-in-law, Stella Hall; daughter-in-law, Jareen Flohr; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends; and her beloved pet dog "Honey." In addition to her parents and husband, Verna was also preceded in death by siblings, Thomas, Robert and William Hall. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, December 15, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery.
