Rev. Jerry Douglas Williams

Rev. Jerry Douglas Williams, 74, of Greenock, went to Heaven on May 9, 2023. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio and was the son of the late Homer and Bernetia (Duncan) Williams of South Portsmouth, Kentucky. Jerry graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and became licensed to preach in 1967 in the United Methodist Kentucky Conference. After serving several pastorates in Kentucky he transferred to the Pennsylvania Conference and completed his seminary work at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He served the Franklin: Lupher-Worden Chapel Charge, the Mapletown Charge: Mapletown, Mt. Pleasant, Shordon and Davistown churches, and the last 22 years of his ministry served as Pastor of the Trinity United Methodist in Trafford, PA. He retired in 2014 to Greenock, PA. He is survived by his adoring wife of 52 years, Darlene (Sass) Williams; son, John (Taylor) Williams; daughter Amy (Daniel) McLaughlin; grandchildren, Bailey, Riley, Bryce and Macie; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Williams of Portsmouth, KY, and Todd Williams of Monroe, LA; and dogs Murphy and Roxy. Donald James “Bucky” Chontos

Donald James “Bucky” Chontos, 91, of White Oak passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2023.  He was born November 12, 1931 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Madden) Chontos. He graduated from St. Peter's High School, class of 1949.   Bucky was a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean War,  and for his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.  Upon his return home, he would go on to work as a Metallurgical Technician for Bettis, J & L Steel Research and Crucible Steel Research. He would go on to retire in maintenance from the former St. Pius V Church in McKeesport.  Bucky was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish and attended their Corpus Christi location.  He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, an avid bowler in his younger days and an avid Steelers fan, especially during the 1970s. He will be greatly missed.

Joseph William Kelley, 83, of Murrysville, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was born July 22, 1939, in North Versailles and grew up in North Braddock. He was the son of the late Theodore D. Kelley Sr. and Frances (Perry) Kelley. Joseph was a US Army veteran and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Murrysville. He was also a member of Harry S. Truman Masonic Lodge #765 in Dravosburg. Joseph was a retired pipe inspector for Elliott Group in Jeanette. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed scotch and having good times with his family.

Maureen Lewis, 82, of Sarasota, FL, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. She was born in Elizabeth, PA on October 8, 1940 and was the daughter to the late Daniel and Anna Mae (Thornton) Lewis. She worked many years as a Bank Manager for SunTrust Bank. She was a huge Steelers fan and loved cooking and playing golf. She is survived by her sons, Donald Bibb of Sarasota, FL, and David (Lisa) Bibb of Ooltewah, TN, sister, Diane (the late Michael) Rice of Columbus, OH, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maureen is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Bibb, and sister, Loretta (the late William) Bittle. Janet was a life member and former church organist and choir director of the Christy Park United Methodist Church. She was the Executive Secretary to the Plant Manager of the former US Steel National Tube Works.

Glenn E. McLaughlin, 94 of Monroeville, formerly of Liberty Boro, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. He was born December 17, 1928 in McKeesport and was the son of the late James J. and Clara (Kappler) McLaughlin. Glenn was a US ARMY Veteran. Glenn worked for and retired from US Steel after many years of service. During his tenure he worked in the Christy Park and at the research center in Monroeville locations. He would also work for Airestech in Monroeville after his retirement. He was a jack of all trades and would help anyone with anything. Glenn also enjoyed traveling with his family throughout the United States and enjoyed bowling with his friends every Thursday at the former Monroebowl. He will be greatly missed.

A skilled craftsman, Larry was always willing to lend a hand and offered to help with many home remodel projects. He enjoyed landscaping and planting flowers, as well as fishing.

Barb was retired from a long time career in the 'Better Sportswear' division at Kaufmann's in Century III. She loved to sit in the sun and read a good book; enjoying time with her grandchildren and taking them to different places, like mini-golf or the aviary; but she also loved the ocean and the family's annual trip to Myrtle Beach.

Larry Stewart Armstrong, 73, of Duquesne, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023.  He was born November 24, 1949 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Arthur and Enid Marie (Stewart) Armstrong. Larry worked for over 21 years as a machinist for Westinghouse and later as a driver for numerous transportation companies.  He loved baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and also enjoyed reading and learning about history.  Most importantly he loved his wife, children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed.  He is survived by his soul mate and wife of 53 years, Audrey F. (Yesensky) Armstrong; daughter, Shannon (Daniel) Schultz of North Huntingdon; son, Larry S. (Dawn) Armstrong, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Hannah, Dane, Ethan, Dusk and Riley; a sister-in-law, Peggy Armstrong and 3 nieces.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Armstrong.  There is no visitation. Dorothy was a member of the former Holy Trinity Church in McKeesport and was the Reunion Treasurer for the McKeesport High School Class of 1947. He was an Elizabeth Forward High School graduate, and worked as an HVAC Technician for over30 years for RoJohn's, Germek's, and Puskar Heating & Cooling. Bruce was an excellent woodworker, a very skilled craftsman, and a knowledgeable handyman. A true, real, good, caring soul, and was loved by many. From Sunday dinners to weekend canoe trips, he loved spending quality time with his family.

She was an Elizabeth Forward High School Graduate and went on to obtain her Associates Degree at the Professional Business Institute in Minneapolis, MN. She worked many years as a phlebotomist for McKeesport Hospital; and she also was the proprietor of the Pet Boutique in Charleroi. A long time member of the Boston United Methodist Church and former member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Central Volunteer Fire Co, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
