Keith L. McDowell, age 67, of Homestead, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Riverside Nursing Center. Born in McKeesport on March 16, 1958, he was the son of the late James R. and Patricia Jean (Lail) McDowell. He was a self employed electrician and had also been employed as an electrician at UPMC Braddock and UPMC Passavant. He liked fishing and all sports especially football-the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Volunteers. He was a member of Anne Ashley Community Church.
Keith is the former husband of Janice (Soltis) McDowell; father of Chad McDowell of West Mifflin and Matthew McDowell of West Mifflin; brother of Kent (late Maria) McDowell of Duquesne and Kreg McDowell of West Mifflin; and uncle of Seaton McDowell.

William J. Daley Jr., age 58, of West Mifflin, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Select Specialty-Montefiore Hospital. Born in McKeesport on October 2, 1966, he was the son of the late William J. and Shirley (George) Daley Sr.
He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-former Holy Name Church. Bill collected baseball cards and knew the stats of most players, especially Roberto Clemente. He was often affectionately referred to as “Dollar Bill,” “Superman,” “Coffee Shop Bill,” and “Mayor of Duquesne and West Mifflin.” He was also a huge Steelers Fan and enjoyed drinking Pepsi.
Bill is the brother of Kathleen (Daniel) Jasek of West Mifflin, Colleen (Paul) Budai of West Mifflin and Lisa Daley of Duquesne and uncle of Melissa (Bob) Kostilnik, Christina (Clayton) Ignat, Katie (Paul) Obrosky, Jenna (Evan) Browne, Josh Budai, late Seth Budai and Shane Daley. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Julie A. Tusay, age 81 of West Mifflin, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. She was born in Braddock on March 9, 1944. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity Church. She was involved with the Emerson PTA and PTSA from 1984-1995 and was the Girl Scout Troop 01398 Leader from 1987-1995. She enjoyed going bowling, making crafts, going to camp, holiday decorating, watching Penguin Hockey and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Julie was the wife of the late Michael A. Tusay Sr. for 52 years. She is the mother of Annamarie (Dennis) Greller, Michael (Wendy) Tusay Jr., and Michelle (Sean) Jones; grandmother of Michael (Kyley) Tusay III, Zack Tusay, Rachael (Daniel) McCullough and Frank Greller; great grandmother of Clayton McCullough; and sister of Anna Mae Robson, late Johanna Carr, late Robert (wife Janet survives) Carr, and late Albert (wife Beverly survives) Carr. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Edward “Ed” Vickovic on June 30, 2025, following a brief illness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ed was born in McKeesport Hospital on July 5, 1947, grew up in Duquesne and eventually moved to Dravosburg. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, Ed worked and retired from Bechtel Bettis, Inc. in Dravosburg.
Ed was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting and fishing. He also loved going to the casinos, playing the slot machines and enjoyed horse racing. Ed was also an active member of the NRA.
Ed is preceded in death by his father Adam Joseph “Specks” Vickovic, mother Elvira (Kasunic) Vickovic and brother Anthony Vickovic. He is survived by his sisters, Joanne of Duquesne, Judith (Allan) Nagel of Florida, Marie (late James) Ford of West Mifflin and brother, Tom of McKeesport. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
There will be a private family visitation and private burial in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin, with Military Honors. Barbara A. Kapa, age 77, of White Oak, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in UPMC East. Born in Braddock on March 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John Kudrec and Philomena (Owens) Huzdovich. She was a former beautician and liked antiquing and collecting anything old.
She is the mother of Philomena Such of White Oak, Robert Bell of McKeesport and Tammy Coleman of White Oak; grandmother of Danielle, Joshua, Brandon, Steven, Amanda, Cheyanne & Dylan; numerous great grandchildren; and sister of Eugene Huzdovich of Munhall, Janet (late Stevie) Hudak of North Huntingdon, Noreen (late Norbert “Butch”) Aikman of Munhall, late John (late Ellie) Kudrec, late Dennis (late Debbie) Kudrec, and late Shirley Golofsky. Nadine Bires, age 75, of Duquesne, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in UPMC McKeesport. Born in Duquesne on August 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Edward “Skip” and Dorothy (Nickolich) Lancos. She worked as a secretary at Equibank for 28 years to the building and maintenance department and in the floral department at Giant Eagle for 10 years. She belonged to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport. She had a passion for reading and loved going to the casino.
Nadine is the beloved wife of 55 years to David J. Bires. She is the sister of Edwin Lancos of McKeesport and is the sister-in-law of Marian (Ozzie) Osborne of Elwood City, Paulette (David) Seko of Virginia, Michael “Sonny” (Janet) Bires of West Mifflin, Daniel Bires of Duquesne, and Gregory (late Linda) Bires of McKeesport.

Carol A. (Budai) Kostelnik, age 83, of West Mifflin, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in UPMC Mercy. Born in Duquesne on July 10, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James and Alberta (Bost) Budai.
She was a member of St Thomas the Apostle Parish-St. Joseph Church, Duquesne where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a former Christian Mother, enjoyed bar bingo at the Duquesne Croatian Club and was a platinum player at the Rivers Casino.
Carol was the wife of the late Robert G. “Bob” Kostelnik for 62 years. She is the mother of Robert J. (Polly Jo) Kostelnik of West Mifflin, Lynn Ann (Jerry Duller) Kostelnik of Ft. Martin F. Davis, age 67, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at home. Born in Homestead on November 17, 1957, he was the son of the late Martin and Rosemary (Rushe) Davis. He was retired from Local 12 as a laborer and from Smith Transport where he was a driver for the oil fields. For 30 years, he and his wife Gayle would go to Michigan for McRiver Raid Canoe Trips. He proudly served his country in the Navy.
Martin is the husband of 30 years to Gayle (Moran) Davis; father of Davina Marie (Ben) Antonoff of West Mifflin, David Barker of Hookstown, PA and Jenny (AJ) Smith of Pleasant Hills; grandfather of Nathan Antonoff, Mason and Cheyanne Smith, and the late Wyatt Barker; brother of Colleen (late Robert) Chudicek of West Mifflin and the late Maureen Hoffman; son-in-law of Fred (late Mary Jane) Moran of Ruffsdale; and brother-in-law of Donald (Kathy) Weber of West Mifflin and Mike (Becky) Moran of Ruffsdale. Irene M. “Reni” Bargar, age 54, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at home.
She was born to Louis and Adrienne (Horvath) Kruszewski on July 3, 1970 in Pittsburgh.
She was employed as a Physical Therapist after graduating from Beaver College in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish of Camp Hill, former member of Holy Trinity Church - now St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, and also a member of G-PACT (support group for gastroparesis).
She was preceded in death by her father Louis.
She is survived by her husband Dale L. Bargar of East Berlin, her mother Adrienne (Horvath) Kruszewski of West Mifflin and brothers Joseph (Ruby) Kruszewski of Dallas, Texas, Matthew (Holly) Kruszewski of Bethel Park, James (Natalie) Kruszewski of Baldwin, Louis M. She was born to the late Raymond and Kathryn (Dunn) LaRUE on April 25, 1947 in Steubenville, Ohio.
She was employed by General American Credit Title Company as an Administrative Assistant, after working for the FBI for a short period.
She belonged to the Duquesne American Croatian Club and the Mifflin Club.
She enjoyed playing Keno, watching Gunsmoke, crocheting and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her sons James Shumard of Munhall and David (girlfriend Jennifer) Shumard of Duquesne, grandchildren Brianna Shumard, Tanner Shumard and Evie Shumard, great-grandchildren Kayden Richmond and Bryson Shumard and sisters Carole (Ron) Auch of Steubenville, Ohio and Dianne LaRUE of Jacksonville, Florida.

Born in New Kensington on August 8, 1930, she was a manager at Cox’s Restaurant in McKeesport and an escort at Children’s Hospital. She liked to read a lot, do word search puzzles, enjoyed her garden of flowers, music, befriending strangers and baking.
She is survived by her children Annette Tate of Tucson, Arizona, Mark (Yasuko) Tankosich of Hiroshima, Japan, and Mike (Georgia) Tankosich of Upper St. Clair; grandchildren Adam Lambert, Mallory (Matthew) Carpenter, Genevieve Tankosich and George Tankosich; and sister Jessie (late Tom) George of Houston, TX. She was predeceased by her brothers Daniel (late Nel) Coury and John Coury.

Carlotta M. Halyama, age 80, of West Mifflin, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at her daughter’s home. Born in Midland, PA on February 27, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas DeNardo and Mary (Glovis) DeNardo. She had worked as a nurse at McKeesport Hospital and Locust Grove. One of her proudest moments was becoming a nurse later in life.
She was the wife of the late George A.
